A Conservative’s Defense of Feminism

A Conservative’s Defense of Feminism | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it

by ROBBY BARTHELMESS (Policymic)

This notion of a "war on men" creates a "crying wolf" scenario when real issues that adversely affect men come up. We do a disservice to these cases by combating them through a use of the "war on men" claim.

If you were to take a look at "feminism" in Merriam-Webster's dictionary, you would find two definitions; 1. the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes and 2. organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests.

In my opinion, this makes any sane, rational person a feminist. So you needn't be out screaming "war on women" to call yourself a feminist. If you believe that men and women should be treated equally in political, economic, and social affairs — then you are, by definition, a feminist.  MORE

Party Recon's comment, July 19, 2013 12:44 AM
I think to say that there is no "war on men" is to miss the entire point. There IS a war on men -- men who think that they are the stronger, more deserving, and superior to their female counterparts. Men who believe in traditional family values. That is to say, those who would have our society nostalgically return to the 1800's where a woman's job was to tend to the children and the home, making sure to look pretty when hubby comes home from work, fetch his slippers, pipe, and smoking jacket, prop his feet up on a footstool and give them a proper massage while he sips scotch she's served up in a crystal rocks glass. Next, a dinner fit for the king of the castle is provided fresh from the oven and well, you get the picture.

Now here's the thing; there is absolutely nothing wrong with a man seeking these things in a women. The fact of the matter is that there are plenty of women who will gladly enter into this type of relationship. And as they say here in Australian -- Good on them. However, when these values are applied to the workplace, they should and must be warred on.

Work is define as:
Noun: Activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result.
Verb: Be engaged in physical or mental activity in order to achieve a purpose or result, esp. in one's job; do work.

Believing that women are somehow less capable of carrying on such activities reeks of prejudice bordering on that of a slave owner and sadly, many of these neanderthals have perfected this perversity. So I say, war away! All that is required is a clearer definition of who exactly is the enemy.

Standardized Testing, Spying And The Indoctrination Of Our Youth | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it
A  fourth grade Florida girl made a huge impact at a school board meeting concerning the FSA, where she shot down any arguments for its existence within three minutes. At the end, she received a standing ovation. She spoke of being treated as a number, of being an honor roll student, and how unfairly this testing reflects her intelligence and her final grade. She spoke of the undue pressure and stress involved. Then comes up with an amazing concept: Test at the beginning, middle and end of the school year.

While there is much light in today’s world, there remains in our universe disheartening darkness, inhumanity spawned by ignorance and hate.
