Coffee Party Feminists & Lunch with Louden are both parts of the BE THE MEDIA Project by Coffee Party USA | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it

The Coffee Party USA membership believes that money-in-politics is the keystone issue in this republic's democracy today. WOMEN are now targets for special interests that use the influence of their political contributions to impose their religious, economic, and political will. Coffee Party Feminists is a part of the BE THE MEDIA project. It is intended to share evidence of special interest targeting and to report on actions being taken across America to defend and restore women's rights.

When you JOIN the Coffee Party or RENEW your membership, you become one of the grass roots funders of our BE THE MEDIA Project.

My country does not owe me a good government, I owe my country a good government

My country does not owe me a good government, I owe my country a good government  | Coffee Party Feminists | Scoop.it

by Beverly Safford Ash:

I am going to vote because, like so many of my fellow citizens, I understand that my country does not owe me a good government, I owe my country a good government. I will vote because it is my obligation to my country to help create the best government possible. While we may disagree about what this means for us as individuals, each vote cast shows that someone wants to create the best government possible. Each vote cast shows that a citizen cares about the government and the country and the direction the country is moving in solving national and international problems.

For me, the best government is one that moves humanity forward toward liberation. I want my country to liberate all people from war, from oppression, from poverty, from bigotry, from sexism and from racism. Liberating all people from the greed of the few, and the greed of those who want to exploit others for their own gain is the direction I am voting for. Of course our country can’t liberate anyone if all people are in danger of extinction due to polluting the environment. So I will cast my vote in the direction of my country’s government taking responsibility to reduce the dangers to our world environment. My faith requires me to follow the path of Jesus who asks me to do the same. The path of Jesus is the continuation of the path of liberation begun in the Old Testament and followed throughout the New Testament. Liberation of all people from war, from oppression, from poverty, from bigotry, from sexism and from racism was the path of Jesus and continues to be the path of his followers. I accept that my path is not the exclusive determination for the government of my county.

All voters participate in determining what is the right path for our country, and who will best help us get there. We know there are many roads that lead to the goal of liberation and not all citizens share in this goal. Yet every citizen wants a good government for their children and for our country. Every citizen wants a strong country in the world market place and peaceful co-existence in the world of nations. The only way that our government can represent the country in a strong position of unity is with full participation of the citizens. Win or lose, we participate, we vote and we support the democratic process.
