This Coffee Shop is Selling More Than Just Coffee | Coffee News | Scoop.it

Offering a quality product or service is essential for success in any business. But if you run a local business, that alone might not be enough. You also need to create an atmosphere within the business that customers will want to be a part of.

That’s the aspect of business that Phil Jaber focused on when launching Philz Coffee in San Francisco in 2002. He told WeWork:

“I visited over 1,100 coffee shops and five-star restaurants to figure out why people went there, what they were looking for, how the employees interacted with the patrons – it wasn’t to see how they made coffee. I wanted to know how they were building a culture around it.”...

The Hilarious Truth About Coffee

The Hilarious Truth About Coffee | Coffee News | Scoop.it

For coffee drinkers, a morning cup of joe is non-negotiable. It might be a coffee to-go from the deli or a cold brew you've steeped for hours. Whatever it is, you don't question it, you don't fight it, you just get it. For coffee lovers, this morning ritual (which may also take place in the afternoon) is sacred.

The bottom line is, coffee is a serious matter to those who care about it. And with any serious matter, certain truths come to light every so often that may be difficult to face. For fans of watermelon, it might be startling to know that watermelon is a berry. (So too is an avocado.) Pizza lovers might be surprised by the fact that Hawaiian pizza was invented by a Canadian. Some food truths are easier to swallow than others, and luckily for coffee drinkers, the truth about coffee isn't as terrible as say, the fact that there might be trace amounts of insect fragments in your peanut butter...

Could Coffee Prevent Tooth Decay and Help Fight Plaque?

Could Coffee Prevent Tooth Decay and Help Fight Plaque? | Coffee News | Scoop.it

Researchers with Federal University in Rio de Janeiro tested the effects of coffee on donated baby teeth. The scientists used an extract from Coffeea canephora, a bean that makes up about 30 percent of the world’s coffee...

The Science of Roasting and Brewing Coffee

The Science of Roasting and Brewing Coffee | Coffee News | Scoop.it

The story starts high in the Andes Mountains in Cauca, Columbia. The farms are built by cutting down trees and burning out the underbrush, essentially clearing out sections of the rainforest. Each farm varies in size, and the plots lie in clusters around villages. The growing and harvesting of coffee is almost all manual. The beans are picked, washed, and then dried in the sun...
