Errant ESPN Report About OU's Tony Jefferson Is Retracted

Errant ESPN Report About OU's Tony Jefferson Is Retracted | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Sooner4OU Commentary: Another wild and erant accusation and story emanating from ESPN (Otherwise known as "The Horn Network Partner").  It is so easy to see there is a conflict of interest in having ESPN and Texas together on a network.  It just motivates sloppy ESPN reporters like Slater looking to rise in  the ESPN ranks to take cheap shots and sensationalize any story about team that are the competition for the Longhorns.  Not too mention, the recruiting advantage it grants to UT.  Yes, ESPN has deals with several conferences and all, but that does not restrict or even cause a second thought for shameful reporters from trying to build their carrers on the backs of other reputable universities and teams.  Shortly after the story was posted Tony Jefferson discussed the accusations with the OU coaches and there was no merit to them and the retraction was not promoted like the sensationalized and errant original story.  It is simple ESPN has become to big and lost their way, it is less about proper news and reporting and more about sensationlized topical ENew'ss style stories and soundbites.  OU should have their legal folks take a swipe at the shady folks over at ESPN.  What do you think about ESPN and their errant stories?

Our official list of the Big 12's top 25 players entering the 2012 season marches on. Here's more on my criteria for who makes it, who doesn't, and who lands where.

The official list is locked away in a vault in an undisclosed location, but we'll be revealing one player a day leading up to the season.

Number 18 is Kenny Stills from Oklahoma.

OU's Neal Prepared For High Expectations In 2012

OU's Neal Prepared For High Expectations In 2012 | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Sooner4OU Commentary:  Everythig coming out of Norman suggests Durron is prepared to contribute this season.  With all of the junior college players on track to be in camp in August, what was earlier considered a lack of depth at wide-out may become of strength. Durron and the rest are poised to become a force this season and for several to come.  I believe Durron will not only met expectations but surpass them.

ESPN Article Excerpt: OU's Neal is prepared for high expectations.  Oklahoma receiver signee Durron Neal knows he'll be asked to contribute this season, particularly with the Sooners' lack of depth. Neal says he's prepared for it.

OU Must Bring IT! Three OU games Among Top 10 This Season

OU Must Bring IT! Three OU games Among Top 10 This Season | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Sooner4OU Commentary: These three games as well as a trip to TCU will define the 2012 Sooner season.  Are they a 9-3 or 11-1 or dare say a 12-0 group?  Only time will tell, but it won't be the lack of schedule strength that hinders this 2012 rendition of the Sooners.  This is especially important, since strength of schedule plays a strong part in the BCS rankings as the post-season comes around.   ESPN selected these three games as part of their top ten and they may be right.

ESPN: The Real BCS Champ; OU Is The Best Program In BCS Era

ESPN: The Real BCS Champ; OU Is The Best Program In BCS Era | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

In ESPN The Magazine, Ryan McGee writes that the Oklahoma Sooners shouldn't be a surprise as The Mag's No. 1 team in BCS era.

The numbers splashed across the media guide are staggering: 13 straight bowl games, including eight BCS bids and four national championship game appearances; seven Big 12 titles since 2000; 81 consecutive home sellouts; 125 straight televised games; and 12 players taken in the first round of the NFL draft since 1998. And all of those stats will be larger by the end of 2012 -- two of them already are after Week 1.

What is a successful season for OU in 2012?

What is a successful season for OU in 2012? | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
Today's question: What will be considered a successful season for the Sooners in 2012?

Honestly, I don't think anyone will consider this a successful season unless the Sooners get to the national championship game. That's unfortunate. But when you're a blue-chip program and a preseason Top-5 team that was preseason No. 1 last year, that's the expectation. OU can obviously have a solid season without going to the national championship. A Big 12 title would be nice. So would a BCS game appearance. But for Sooner Nation to truly consider this season a success, the Sooners will have to get to the big one.
