The Battle for Oklahoma Football Bragging Rights!

The Battle for Oklahoma Football Bragging Rights! | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
It is interesting how people outside of Oklahoma view the ongoing battle between OU and OSU for top recruits. While many point out that OU is almost always in the Top 10 recruiting rankings and recruits consistently on a national basis, it is the success being enjoyed at OSU, with the so-called 3-stars recruits that has several asking bigger questions. Here is an excerpt of what ESPN Insider KC Joyner writes that: "Mike Gundy seems to have figured out a recruiting strategy that eluded previous high-profile coaches at Oklahoma State and will allow the Cowboys to compete on a national level." Blog: Role Reversal for Sooners and Cowboys

Blog: Role Reversal for Sooners and Cowboys | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
Fanster Blog: Four years ago the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma State Cowboys invaded the Valley of the Sun to participate in the Insight & Fiesta Bowls. Fast forward to 2011/12 and once again the Orange and black as well as the crimson and cream cover the greater Phoenix landscape. But this time, the Sooners played in the Insight and the Cowboys in the Fiesta. Unfamiliar roles indeed, as the Sooners have been BCS regulars while the Cowboys have been mired in lower tier bowls. But could the Cowboys find the elusive Fiesta win the Sooners were denied? Even Oklahoma State booster extraordinaire T. Boone Pickens commented that the rise of his Cowboys was two years earlier than even he thought.Read more...

Moments That Defined The Sooners' 2011 Season

Moments That Defined The Sooners' 2011 Season | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
In this Travis Haney article, he states that it is "Funny how a football season can feel simultaneously like a long and short interval of time", never have truer words been spoken. This has been a long and dissapointing season given the expectations, yet I am sad to see it go. Now, there is nine months until OU football returns. But before we get into the 2012 edition of the Sooners, lets reflect on Haney' defining moments for OU football in 2011. Read more...

OU Men's Basketball Team Wins Another

OU Men's Basketball Team Wins Another | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

The Sooners win another over Northwestern State.  This is a team of well coached overachievers, a definite  and welcomed change from the previous year's team.

Article from NewsOk - The Sooners are labeled an undersized team. Size, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Many coaches would love to have Oklahoma's “undersized” inside tandem of Romero Osby and Andrew Fitzgerald.  Read more...

Bell Bulldozes OU To A 31-14 OU Victory

Most of OU's offense and excitement was found at the hands of the Insight Bowl's MVP Blake Bell, the "Belldozer." Bell ran-over defenders for three scores and is a real load when running the ball behind the "Big" set offensive line.  Considering the uncertainity around whether Landry Jones will return, the play of Bell provides some optimism around the 2012 Sooners.  A nice win to complete a dissapointing season doesn't hurt either.  Read more...

Oklahoma Sooners Football: Recent Turmoil Means Bright Future in Norman

Oklahoma Sooners Football: Recent Turmoil Means Bright Future in Norman | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
Below is an excerpt from an interesting Bleacher Report article about how the recent turmoil with the OU footballl team may lead to a bright future in Norman. Honestly, the article sems a little optimistic to me as it usually not as optimistic or as pessimistic as most think, as it usually ends up somehwere in the middle. Excerpt: "As I sit staring at the keyboard, fingers anxiously poised on home row, I toss several words around in my head in an attempt to describe the Oklahoma Sooners' 2011 season in one, all-encompassing word..." The Sooner Network on Fox?

The Sooner Network on Fox? | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Great article that lays out the Sooner or Oklahoma netwrok on Fox Sports.  Should be interesting...here is an except of the article.

Cable customers in Austin, Texas, don’t have access to their hometown University of Texas’ Longhorn Network.

But starting next fall, those Texas subscribers will be able to see plenty of the Longhorns’ bitter rival through hours of University of Oklahoma-branded programming, thanks to a deal that’s close to being signed with Fox Sports.

Fox has agreed to carry at least 1,000 hours a year of Oklahoma programming on its FS Southwest and FS Oklahoma regional sports networks, which go to 8.6 million homes in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and, yes, Texas.

Stoops is defintely a Landry Jones fan and for good reason. He has good skills and can grow and mature. Draft dish: Jones' Best Play Is To Stay at OU and Answer Key Questions

Draft dish: Jones' Best Play Is To Stay at OU and Answer Key Questions | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

The questions around Landry Jones draft potential continue.  Recent performances have hurt Landry's stock.  While still a potential high draft pick, many are now suggesting another year would help clear up some of his issues.

Sporting News - Now that Oklahoma’s season is over, following its win over Iowa in the Insight Bowl, Sooners junior quarterback Landry Jones faces a decision about whether he is entering the draft. Based on our film evaluation, Jones (6-4, 230) would clearly be better off staying in school another season to try to improve his accuracy and decision-making. From what we are hearing, however, NFL teams have questions about Jones beyond his physical skills.

Article: Bob Stoops has no regrets about his expectations for OU football | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Article from NewsOk — Oklahoma will enter this offseason on the high of a third consecutive bowl win.

And its veteran coach will go into 2012 without a tinge of regret for puffing air into expectations — before injuries and myriad other factors led to a 10-3 season that ended Friday night with a 31-14 victory against Iowa in the Insight Bowl.

“I never go overboard. Everyone else does,” Bob Stoops said Saturday morning, addressing reporters beside the team hotel's pool. “I can't stop who ESPN picks to be No. 1, or who you guys think ought to do what. Right?

“What am I going to do, call them up? ‘No, don't put us there. Put us down there at 10.'”
