Receiver Trey Metoyer Arrives At OU This Week | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Article Excerpt:  The first member of Oklahoma's receiver-heavy recruiting class is expected on campus sometime this week.

Texas native Trey Metoyer said on Twitter late in the week that he had been accepted by OU. Sooners receiver Kenny Stills asked Metoyer on Friday if he was on the way.

“I'm coming, bro, for real,” he told Stills. “We're doing it this year. New year, baby.”

Metoyer, originally in the 2011 class, spent the past semester at Hargrave Military in Virginia. He dealt some with an ankle injury there, but it's not expected to be of any consequence for winter workouts or spring practice. Class begins Tuesday at OU.

Kasseim Everett is Willie Martinez's farewell gift to OU football

Kasseim Everett is Willie Martinez's farewell gift to OU football | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Article Excerpt:  Willie Martinez, the deposed assistant coach at Oklahoma, left Mike Stoops a significant parting gift: junior college cornerback Kasseim Everett.

Everett struck up such a strong relationship with Martinez that when Everett committed to Texas Tech on Dec. 23 - a press conference, a hyped-up ceremony, slipping a Texas Tech ballcap on his head - Martinez called and somehow got Everett to change his mind.

"I had to break him the news and he was almost distraught," Everett told the Tulsa World in a telephone interview on Friday. "You could really feel the passion through the phone that he did not expect what had just happened."

Everett said the night before his ceremony, he was convinced he was going to OU.

A Very Early Look At The 2012 OU Defensive Backfield

A Very Early Look At The 2012 OU Defensive Backfield | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
In this Crimson and Cream Machine article they do a fairly thorough review of the potential 2012 OU secndary. We should all remain a little skeptical about this year's secondary until Mike Stoops gets in place and tries to right the ship back there. As many are aware, the defensive backfield has been dissapointing the last few years giving up big plays far too often. It is the hope for many in the Sooner Nation that with Mike they can get a change of direction that will bring a similar defensive stoutness that we saw in Mike's previous stay. Only time will tell...Read more...

OU Out Foxes The Longhorn Network! | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

OU and Fox Sports have agreed to a new partnership for OU's Tier III athletic events and other content. It is not for as much money as LHN, but the distribution is much broader and already in place with an large audience, yet LHN is very limited audience and distribution at this point, with no major outlets on-board. All in all, this a really strong approach for OU.

Surprise...Stoops Not Likely To Make Major Changes To Offense In 2012

Surprise...Stoops Not Likely To Make Major Changes To Offense In 2012 | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

In this Norman Transcript article,  it discusses how Coach Stoops is highly unlikely to make changes to the offense for the 2012 season.  He is happy with quick snap, no huddle offense that has been in place for years.

Read this excerpt from the article: It doesn’t matter whether Landry Jones decides to stay or go, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is adamant that the style of offense his team has used since 2008 is entrenched.

The Sooners aren’t suddenly going to morph into a three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust team because of the way 2011 ended.

But the way the season ended, with OU throwing for just 161 yards and Jones only throwing one touchdown pass in the final four games, shows the offense is in need of some tweaks before September rolls around.

Insight Bowl Provided Glimpses Of What Sooner Defense Could Have Been

Insight Bowl Provided Glimpses Of What Sooner Defense Could Have Been | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
Crimson and Cream Machine: I have to start by asking myself and everyone else this question. Is it possible that as fans we were so frustrated and disenfranchised with Oklahoma's defensive performances this season that its difficult to give credit under any circumstances. The rumors of Mike Stoops possibly returning to the staff don't help out the situation either. These thoughts kept going through my head as I was willing to light up Brent Venables once again and overly criticize Oklahoma's defensive performance against Iowa. However, after looking it over and settling down a bit I've come to the conclusion that the defensive performance by the Sooners last Friday night wasn't bad at all. In fact, its the kind of performance we had hoped they would have delivered throughout the season and if they had we wouldn't have been watching the Insight Bowl.Read more..
