As part of “College Football Live’s” 100 Days Till Kickoff countdown, here’s a look at the top 10 players in the Big 12. Landry Jones comes in at #2 representing the Oklahoma Sooners. Read more....
Oklahoma's recruiting has expanded into new areas over the past few years, and one state the Sooners have targeted with increasing frequency is Florida. The program added another Sunshine state player to their class Tuesday night when Miami (Fla.) safety Ahmad Thomas picked up an offer. "I feel like it was something I just had to jump on without even seeing them," Thomas told Rivals. "They will be my first visit. At this point, they are the only school I know I will visit. It should be this summer." Read more...
Like the Frankenstein monster, Blake Bell has spent significant time in the laboratory. For two years, the former Bishop Carroll quarterback, still as big and hulking as ever, has been poked and prodded — in a football sense, of course — while biding his time at Oklahoma as the career of Sooners QB Landry Jones enters what seems like it’s third decade. Read more here...
Eric Dickerson badly wanted to play college football for Barry Switzer at Oklahoma, but his momma wouldn’t let him. Dickerson loved the way Marcus Dupree ran the football for the Sooners in 1982, but had never met him before Sunday. And of course, Dickerson has a deep respect for the man to whom many people compare him, former Sooner Adrian Peterson. “I still pull for OU,” Dickerson said. “I’ve always been an OU fan. SMU first, my second team is OU.” Read more...
The Big 12 and SEC are starting their version of the Rose Bowl. And that's bad news for the ACC and Big East. It might not be the start of Armageddon in college football, but Friday's announcement that the Big 12 and SEC are forming a partnership, which would pit their champions in a future New Year's Day bowl game, has sent even more conference realignment ripples throughout the sport. The Oklahoma Sooners football team added another wide receiver to the 2012 class on May 19, junior college transfer LaColtan Bester (De Kalb, Miss./East Mississippi CC). While the Sooners have been busy recruiting for their 2013 class, they went out and picked up someone new for this upcoming season. Read more...
DoDoDo the Gundy in Tulsa wrote: I am the biggest Cowboy fan on your wonderful Blog, but I got into an OU argument with a guy at the bar last night. He said Mack Brown was a better coach than Bob Stoops because of recruiting. Again, don't know why I keep sticking up for OU, but you have to give credit where it is due. So, I told him he was crazy. What do you think David? Read more...
This will be an interesting year to say the least for not only the Oklahoma Sooners, but the Big 12 in general. The good news for OU is the Stoops brothers are back together again after almost a decade apart. Landry Jones deciding not to declare for the NFL draft, and come back to play his senior season was also good news. Read more...
The Big 12 and Southeastern Conferences have announced a five-year agreement for their football champions to meet in a postseason bowl game following the 2014 season. The champions of the two conferences will be in the matchup unless one or both are selected to play in the new four-team model to determine the national championship. Should that occur, another deserving team from the conference(s) would be selected for the game. Read more...
Sooner4OU Commentary: I must agree with Adrian Peterson on the Oregon loss six years ago. It was an OU win taken away by biased officils and a replay official with an obvious oregon slant and the sad thing...eveyone knows it, including the NCAA. It is not ionly justifiably the "Decade's Worst Call", but also symbolic of the numerous issues surrounding how officials are selected for each game and their oversight. It is absolutely ridiculous that these young kids can work so hard and leave it all out on the field and have it taken away in the last seconds by a corrupt group of officials. I am with you Adrian, I remember the t-shirts being sold around Norman saying "What The Duck?". Actually though it was much worse than that in reality. It rob many players, loyal fans and coaches of a well deserved win! Shame on you Oregon administration! Shame on you corrupt officials! Shame on you Oregon fans for accepting a false win! Sad! Very Sad! By the way, if you hear an Oregon fan say "get over it", it is because they have no other answer and they ae truly ashamed, but afraid to admit it. Read more...
In the shape-shifting world of college athletics, the eye can no longer be trusted. There is beauty, to be sure, but most of the beholders wear the realignment equivalent of beer goggles. How else can you explain a sinking ship turning into a lifeboat overnight? Or a notorious bully and a benevolent benefactor becoming one and the same? Or one group's intolerable dysfunction looking like another's enviable harmony? Read more...
At least conference realignment gives us something to do during the long hot summers between spring football and real football. The latest rumble to impact teams in our neck of the woods is word that Florida State might be willing to talk to the Big 12. Check that, the Seminoles are completely loyal to the ACC. No, wait, FSU is considering all its options. Read more...
Junior college offensive tackle Will Latu could step in and start immediately for the Sooners in 2012. But he knows he has a lot of work to do this summer. When Will Latu thinks of his football future, he likes to think of Phil Loadholt. After transferring to Oklahoma from junior college five years ago, Loadholt sat out the spring, but won a starting job by the fall and became a second-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings. "I'm in the same situation Phil was," Latu said in a recent phone interview. "That is crazy what he accomplished, especially coming from junior college. I'm ready to come in and fulfill the dreams he did." Read more...

Oklahoma football cards in the history books The Oklahoma Sooners have grown from strength to strength in its history as one of the greatest teams in the United States systematically. If you like Oklahoma football tickets this weekend already, today, we give you a little history that led the Sooners to their current position. Read more...
Sooner4OU Commentary: It clearly depends on the season and the success of either team regarding who has the larger audience and current following. The Thunder are making a strong run right now and rightly deserve the attention and support from Oklahoma fans. It is good for the state of Oklahoma and all those that live in it. In fact, if you listen in the distance you might even hear AC/DC's Thunderstruck playing. But, come Fall, get ready for some Boomer Sooner and all that it entails. Boomer Thunder! ??? Read article...
The Big 12's magic number remains 10. Acting commissioner Chuck Neinas, who brokered a landmark new postseason game with the Southeastern Conference, said conference athletic directors discussed expansion three weeks ago in Phoenix. "The athletic directors ... seemed very comfortable with 10," Neinas told Austin's "The Horn" KTXX-FM (104.9) on Monday. "But there's nothing more consistent in life than change. Right now, people seem to be satisfied with 10." Read more...
Cornerback Cortez Johnson is following two of his former coaches and transferring from Arizona to Oklahoma. Johnson will be reuniting with defensive coordinator Mike Stoops and linebackers coach Tim Kish, who were both on the staff at Arizona last season. Johnson played in eight games and started twice for the Wildcats as a freshman. Read more...
When West Virginia makes it to the Big 12 for 2012, they'll have escaped both the Big East's bylaws and Kentucky's senators. The chatter surrounding Florida State's movement from the ACC to the Big 12 is growing, and fun, for people who are big fans of chatter. One person -- Ingram Smith of ChuckOliver.net -- reports that it's inevitable, and that Clemson is an "almost certain" addition as well. Read more...
Oklahoma and Tulsa qualified for the NCAA Championship in men's golf Saturday, but for the first time in school history, Oklahoma State missed the field. The Sooners and Golden Hurricane each finished fifth at the Norman and Greensboro, N.C., regionals, respectively. The Cowboys came in eighth at the Ann Arbor, Mich., regional. The top five teams at each regional make the championship field. Read more...
OU won its final game of the regular season and second in a row with a series-clinching 13-3 victory against Samford on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore pitcher Damien Magnifico toed the rubber in his first start since a 6-1 loss at Oklahoma State on April 24. Magnifico, who became a household name after shutting out No. 18 Arkansas in just his second start of the season back on April 10, showed no signs of rust — allowing just one hit through the first five frames. Assessing the post-spring ESPN Top 25. It's crazy to me just how different OU feels this year from last year, and yet, it's only five spots lower in the preseason.

It, of course, is change. And the winds of change are blowing at gale force across the landscape of college football. It’s been 4-1/2 months since the last college football game was played and it will be another 3-1/2 months until the first game of the 2012 season will commence, so we’ve made it past the halfway point in the off-season. But when that new season arrives, it will be readily apparent that the college football world looks a little bit different. We also know that even bigger change – did somebody say “Playoffs?! Playoffs?!” – is coming in the years ahead. Read more...
You saw us break down each team's 2012 nonconference schedule, and, well, it wasn't pretty. So what's it look like if we skim off the top? Here are the Big 12's top five nonconference games in 2012: Read more...
It's that time again, boys and girls. The spring is over, and the Big 12 stock must be checked. Here's how I slot the conference heading into the summer. Read more...
The Oklahoma Sooners are adding a wide receiver after a recent string of suspensions at the position. Coach Bob Stoops announced Tuesday that Jalen Saunders has transferred to Oklahoma after leading Fresno State in receiving yards last season as a sophomore. Saunders had 50 receptions for 1,065 yards last season and led the Western Athletic Conference with 12 touchdown catches. Read more...
