Sooner Baseball Team Moves To 6-0 On The Season With Doubleheader Sweep | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Oklahoma's baseball team has moved to 6-0 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Arkansas Pine Bluff yesterday.   This 2013 squad is really using their bats on offense to put away their opponents.

Coach Sonny Galloway has put together a strong line-up with tenacity "This club has a chance to be very, very special. I saw unbelievable energy the entire second game." said Sonny.

OU will participate in the 2013 Kleburg Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas this weekend. The Sooners will begin with Iowa on Friday.

Sad Excuse: Rain May Have Watered Down Sooners’ Chances

Sad Excuse: Rain May Have Watered Down Sooners’ Chances | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Sooner4OU Commentary:  It is really dissapointing to see a local paper that many feel represents the thoughts and concerns of thousands of Sooner fans and the school lead an article with an excuse title.   After all, both teams played in the rain and were affected but to use it as a potential excuse just seems like bad sportmanship or poor journalism, one of the two.  The truth of the matter is they played hard and tried their best and came up short.  It is not a trivial task and only handful teams make it this far each year.  Therefore, we should be celebrating their effort and accomplishments, not staining it with an excuse.

Defense lifts OU to road baseball win at ORU | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Max White leaned forward, squinted and anticipated what every outfielder dreams of.

And of course, it happened.

White, Oklahoma's junior center fielder, ran in to make a diving catch of a line drive with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night against Oral Roberts. White's head-first grab ended the inning and killed an ORU rally in the Sooners' 6-3 victory at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

"I kept picturing making a diving catch," White said. "But it was kind of hard to read. I had to make a stutter-step before I came in."

OU's Road To Omaha Isn’t Paved With Errors | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Most teams celebrate when they eliminate a regional host and advance to a regional championship game. Oklahoma didn’t even come close to that last Sunday in Charlottesville, Va.

Less than a minute after shaking hands, the Sooners went down the left-field line and faced the wrath of Sooner coach Sunny Golloway.

OU Baseball Comes Up Just Short In Big 12 Championship Game

OU Baseball Comes Up Just Short In Big 12 Championship Game | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it
From the outset, it did not look like it was going to be the Sooners day. OU starter Damien Magnifico had trouble finding the plate early and lasted just one third of inning allowing four runs (two earned) putting the Sooners in a big hole. Dillon Overton, on just three days rest, came in and settled things down as the Sooners began to chip away at Missouri's lead.

Oklahoma State's 6-1 shutdown of Oklahoma two Tuesdays ago didn't mean a thing in the Big 12 baseball standings.

Lockwood's Homer Helps OU Rally

Lockwood's Homer Helps OU Rally | Sooner4OU | Scoop.it

Catcher Hunter Lockwood's fourth homer of the series couldn't have come at a better time.

With OU trailing 3-1 and hitless going into the sixth inning, Lockwood stepped to the plate and smashed a big fly--his fourth of the series--over the center field wall.

"Coach kinda got onto us a little bit about not stringing together hits, chasing fastballs and doing all that, so my approach when I went up to the plate was just look fastball, try and get something to hit," Lockwood said. "He gave me something and I had to jump on it and it was a nice spark for the team. But that's kinda what we needed to do there. It was a big part of the game."
