Very interesting post, as David Hains and Denyse Drummond-Dunn say for diagnostic purposes, but also for presenting the process to the "unaware" companies, so that they can see the value, and benefits of implementing collaborative cultures in the business industry.

Innovation: A Tale of Language, Marissa Mayer, Francis Bacon and the Sonnet !

Innovation: A Tale of Language, Marissa Mayer, Francis Bacon and the Sonnet ! | Coaching Psychology for a Better Workplace | Scoop.it

Innovation is driven by the informed choice of constraints, not by the elimination of constraints. Ask yourself this question: “Is innovation caused, or is it serendipitous?” The answer is almost certainly “yes.”
Spend a little time with any strong innovation leader and you will find someone who is very comfortable living with this seemingly contradictory notion. On the surface, innovation often appears random — something that just seems to happen when creative people do creative stuff in creative ways.

Miklos Szilagyi's curator insight, December 12, 2012 3:06 PM

Interesting article... I have some smaller reserve though... the most importatnt is that as far as I know the left and right hemisphere is toda rather a metaphora than a physical reality (when one of them is hurt, the other more or less takes over without problem its functionality) but if we take it as it is - a strong metaphorb - the sens of the argunment is as good as it would be a physical reality...

Good Employees Make Mistakes. Great Leaders Allow Them To - Forbes

Good Employees Make Mistakes. Great Leaders Allow Them To - Forbes | Coaching Psychology for a Better Workplace | Scoop.it
As a business leader, I found that one of the scariest things to do was to give your people the freedom to make mistakes. While mistakes allow individuals to learn and grow, they can also be very costly to any company.
John Michel's curator insight, April 18, 1:07 AM

The steps to correcting mistakes apply to any area of life. Whether it’s business life or home life or personal life, the principles of apologizing remain the same. Good employees make a lot of mistakes, and truly great employees are those have mastered the art of apologizing for those mistakes:

Anyone Can Innovate, But Not Everyone Can !

Anyone Can Innovate, But Not Everyone Can ! | Coaching Psychology for a Better Workplace | Scoop.it

Yes, anyone can. But not everyone can. Here’s why…
It is very simple. First of all, to innovate, you need skill combined with will. The skills needed are very straight forward, to begin you need to identify a problem, understand it and then have access to people and information that can help you solve the problem. And, that is just the beginning ...

Via Fouad Bendris
Fouad Bendris's curator insight, March 12, 6:22 PM

The point: Anyone can innovate if they are willing to change their ways, but no everyone can because change isn’t a priority. It is something that happens, and most are more than comfortable waiting until they have to. Those with guts are bound for glory. Take the first step, shed some skin to make way for new capabilities. That is how you start the transformation ...
