4 Culture Elements to Increase the Number of Women Executives

4 Culture Elements to Increase the Number of Women Executives | Coaching Leaders | Scoop.it

Maybe what the women’s movement really brought us is simply the opportunity to choose our own definition of success? What can business learn from the fact that so many women are choosing differently?

John Michel's curator insight, July 2, 2013 1:36 PM

If we truly desire a more diverse representation of leaders in the C-Suite, maybe we should re-examine the business culture, rather than expecting women and others to re-define how they view success. What is lacking in the environment that if present might allow more women to find their version of success in the C-suite

Jana Axline's curator insight, July 2, 2013 10:36 PM

I'm sure this would attract more women, but I think men are interested in these perks as well.

Women and the C-Suite

Women and the C-Suite | Coaching Leaders | Scoop.it

I find it interesting how business forums tend to frame the discussion of the low numbers of women in C-level leadership positions.

What if the problem is simply that many women, maybe even a majority of women, simply do not want the lifestyle that goes along with these roles? What if the problem is the business culture itself?

Two Faces of Perfectionism | Psychology Today | Coaching Leaders | Scoop.it

On the surface, striving for perfection in the things we do is a good thing. It helps us plan, organize, strategize and achievegoals. But there is a flip side to perfectionism that can harm children and teens as they journey through their school years.

How should parents and educators help kids understand their perfectionist tendencies so that doing their best doesn’t drag them down?

From this article, i learnt that as long as we take things step by step we will succeed and that everything is possible. As in the article, it says that even the excutive also learnt things that the lower rank people have to memorise for their work. this shows that we have to do thing step by step and so that we can be success.

Is it better to be loved or feared?

Niccolò Machiavelli pondered that timeless conundrum 500 years ago and hedged his bets. “It may be answered that one should wish to be both,” he acknowledged, “but because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.”

We will dive into the why leadership is not JUST about management and business, it is about creating the society we want to live in.

To be a leader means to promote values we care about, like inclusion, equality, individual success and community well-being at the same time.

Leadership is about taking the gifts we have been given and collectively create a better future.   Hope you enjoy the show.

Being able to choose something new outside of past programming means being able to see with new eyes and hear with new ears. Changing around some of the people, places and things exposes you to different aspects of self that lie just below the surface of doing things the same way over and over.
