Your body language shapes who you are

Using a few simple tweaks to body language, Harvard researcher Amy Cuddy discovers ways to help people become more powerful

Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” - standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident - can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES – 2.) Empathy | Noozmag

THOUGHTS ON LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES – 2.) Empathy | Noozmag | Coaching Leaders | Scoop.it

Leaders who show empathy are able to attune to a wide range of emotional signals. They feel what is unspoken and unsaid in communication – they are able to read between the lines. Such leaders listen attentively and can grasp the other person’s perspective. Empathy enables people to get along with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures and walks of life. Empathy is the most recognized of all dimensions of emotional intelligence.

Empathy in leadership is often false interpreted by authoritarian people. People often think that empathy has something to do with being humble and having no own opinion. That is certainly false! Showing empathy towards other people does not mean adopting people’s feelings and opinions or trying to please everybody. Empathy means having an open ear, listening attentively, trying to understand and feeling with others – having a heart for others.

Why is empathy so important nowadays?

9 things successful people do differently

9 things successful people do differently | Coaching Leaders | Scoop.it

If you aren’t sure, you are far from alone in your confusion. It turns out that even brilliant, highly accomplished people are pretty lousy when it comes to understanding why they succeed or fail. The intuitive answer — that you are born predisposed to certain talents and lacking in others — is really just one small piece of the puzzle.

In fact, decades of research on achievement suggests that successful people reach their goals not simply because of who they are, but more often because of what they do.
