Beginner’s Guide To: Producing Their First Youtube Tutorial

Beginner’s Guide To: Producing Their First Youtube Tutorial | Coach Jeffery's: Teaching with Technology | Scoop.it

This post provides a tutorial that will show readers how to produce high quality YouTube tutorial without the use of a studio or even a video camera.

Users will mak a How-to video tutorial, or product introduction with voice over and subtitles.

YouTube has a function to translate the captions so that viewers from all over the world can understand what is in the video.

Subtitles also make YouTube tutorials text searchable so people can find them easily. It’s best to keep the length of the video in under 6 minutes – people don’t like to watch a video if it is too long.

The Plagiarism Checker

The Plagiarism Checker | Coach Jeffery's: Teaching with Technology | Scoop.it
John Dalziel's curator insight, April 13, 2:23 PM

Sometimes learners get lazy and use the web in ways that are inappropriate in an academic setting - i.e. by plagiarising work from web sources.
Even though the benefits of the web far outweigh the risk of inappropriate use, as educators, we should strive to train our learners on acceptable web behaviour.
This includes the habits of summarising, quoting, and citing sources. Despite our best efforts, some students choose to bend/break the rules of fair use.
"The Plagiarism Checker", from dustball.com, is a free, simple, program for practitioners, learners. other stakeholders.

Practitioners: Just...
- paste in text from a suspect paper and The Plagiarism Checker will quickly perform a Google search of multiple portions of the submitted text in an effort to find matches.

Learners: Just...
- paste in text from your paper, before submission, and The Plagiarism Checker will quickly perform a Google search of multiple portions of the submitted text in an effort to find matches.

NOTE: The basic service is free to use. A more advanced and, in their words, accurate checker is available for $8/month.

NOTE: Papers are not be stored for any purpose. Some other sites do make a copy of the paper.

Share and Share Alike!

Share and Share Alike! | Coach Jeffery's: Teaching with Technology | Scoop.it

Education is about the free exchange of ideas. The exchange part is where the sharing comes in. Without sharing, there is no exchange.

At one time content was a commodity that was doled out for a price by institutions that housed the texts that contained the content. That is no longer the case. A combination of content on the Internet as well as the advance of social media and it is a whole new paradigm.

=> Of course this only works if exchanges of information takes place. <=

The Best PowerPoint Alternatives for Creating Great Presentations - The Digital Shift

The Best PowerPoint Alternatives for Creating Great Presentations - The Digital Shift | Coach Jeffery's: Teaching with Technology | Scoop.it

"We’ve all endured “death by PowerPoint.” It’s a painful experience for the audience and probably not all that fun for the presenter either. To help my students deliver effective presentations—free of those deadly bullet points—I have my go-to applications."

Via Beth Dichter
Beth Dichter's curator insight, May 21, 10:12 PM

Richard Byrne shares alternatives to PowerPoint with a twist. He includes additional tools that help students outline their stories; find high quality images that are public domain and/or Creative Commons; and a variety of web-based presentation tools as well as Haiku Deck, and app for the iPad.

In total he shares eight resources providing links to all as well as short descriptions.

Michael Kleven's curator insight, May 22, 4:15 PM

This isn't directly related to film production. Still, we all are called upon to make presentations. Some great resources here. Perhaps even helpful for producers, directors, DoP's.

Gary Faust's curator insight, May 22, 9:50 PM

Good ideas to help students add interest.
