Science Explains What The State Of Your Desk Says About You

Science Explains What The State Of Your Desk Says About You | Co-Creation Community | Scoop.it
Does every object on your desk have its proper place? Do you keep your pencils sharpened to the exact same length and dust regularly between your computer keys? Or maybe there’s so much junk on your desk that you can’t even see the surface.
Susan M Davis's insight:

Now I feel better! Since one of my core-values is creativity, and thinking outside the box is how I have fun, I'm going to stop feeling guilty about my messy desk!  I'm one to choose eating healthy, too, and given the choice between fruit and just about any other food, I'd take fruit - but a good organic dark chocolate wins out over fruit almost every time! - I guess Kathleen Vohs, a psychological scientist at the University of Minnesota and Psychological Science has  got me nailed.

Good lesson, though, for how we present ourselves on our website or in our public presence, whether for business or philanthropy: "Preliminary research has found that people are more likely to donate money to an organization when its website features a clean, user-friendly design."

Teamwork Makes The Dream Work - Or Does It?

Teamwork Makes The Dream Work - Or Does It? | Co-Creation Community | Scoop.it
To me, teamwork is the beauty of our sport, where you have five acting as one. You become selfless. - Mike Krzyzewski. Serve your team and win!
Susan M Davis's insight:

Barry Smith, Building What Matters, is talking #Co-Creation!

The most successful and 'winning' #teams, are those where all members #respect each others unique gifts to the whole, where there is that basic alignment of #core-values, along with the unique and valuable offerings of each team member. It's the role of the #Mentor, to model the core-values and the respecting and honoring of each team members' unique gifts - and this will make each member more successful as an individual and the #team more successful as a whole.

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson shared one of the most epic friendships in history. This video does something to communicate the incredible connection these two giants shared.
Susan M Davis's insight:

These quotes make me proud to be an American. They are words of wisdom that we need to live by, 200+ years after they were 'voiced'. I love the 'Bonus' quote: “Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day. ~Thomas Jefferson

Fred 2.0 - Part 2: How To Be A Fred

Fred 2.0 - Part 2: How To Be A Fred | Co-Creation Community | Scoop.it
Fred 2.0, by Mark Sanborn, delivers a specific game plan to making more out of every day we live and the way we live it. How will you be a Fred today?
Susan M Davis's insight:

Being a 'Fred' is a huge part of being successful in both business and in life! So many of the principles are included in the '9 Steps to Marketing Success' framework that I use to guide my consulting clients in co-creating their written marketing plans. I can certainly see how the Fred principles have worked in the successful businesses I've been fortunate to have built over the past 40 years. Building powerful and long-term relationships, and resolving to continuing being a 'Fred', is certainly a huge part of success - and joy in both business and life - as are all the 'Fred' principles!

I think I'll change my name to Susan Fred-Davis - a DAILY reminder to be all things FRED!

If someone wants your very best version, that probably means that they're going to get the same version that you've done before, the same as the best version you produced a week ago. If you want the best, it also...
Susan M Davis's insight:

Wise for us all to remember Voltaire, "le mieux est l'ennemi du bien". Perfect is the enemy of the good. If we want to succeed, move forward, change, be truly free to live in our Truth and also live in the moment, then forget about 'Perfect', and "Think...Be...Do".

Susan M Davis's insight:

In looking for a mentor, don't overlook the Zoomers - those with seasoned experience and a perspective about life from having actually lived it. There's much to admire, too, about those who are resilient - bouncing even higher as they Zoom over some pretty major hurdles on their journies.

Things I Carry: Smart Phone? I Prefer a Brilliant Assistant

Things I Carry: Smart Phone? I Prefer a Brilliant Assistant | Co-Creation Community | Scoop.it
I couldn’t get through the workday without my assistant, Helen. While gadgets like smartphones and tablets certainly do have a huge positive impact upon my working life, it is the people around
Susan M Davis's insight:

I'm in total agreement with Richard Branson - going it alone is not really productive and certainly isn't much fun. Having an assistant - not a virtual one - is a dream of mine, too. Over the years I've been both a 'solo-preneur' and had up to twelve employees. While not aspiring to have that many in-house employees, I certainly see having a personal assistant or manager as the most viable way to grow a business and allow the owner to do what they do best, which is NOT the day-to-day work IN the business. Co-creation - when all members of the team are contibuting their gifts and what they do well, to the whole - is the path to freedom for everyone to succeed. "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts".

The Magic We Forgot: Finding Enchantments in Our Everyday Lives. ~ Katie Brown

The Magic We Forgot: Finding Enchantments in Our Everyday Lives. ~ Katie Brown | Co-Creation Community | Scoop.it
Below are 100 ways that I’ve experienced magic. Magic isn’t the distant fairytale thing we’ve been taught to believe; magic is whatever you want it to be.
Susan M Davis's insight:

Magic is what makes life truly awesome and every moment meaningful! I'm  a lot older than the author of this post, and my list fills volumes (wouldn't even want to start numbering the magical moments of my journey.)The  most magical things are the transitional (and transformational)  moments which we all experience many times along the way. For me, a few of the most awesome, and those which set my life on a brand new path of awesomeness was meeting my husband 43 years ago and 'knowing' him - and that "he was the one" from first sight, the birth of my children - I mean the actual moments they entered the world surrounded by loving family & midwives, being a parent and the transition to being a Mentor and seeing amazing success in those whom I was mentoring, the deaths of my parents and experiencing the transition of two amazing souls onward and upward! These are a just a few of my BIG magical moments, and I'm sure something that resoates many, many others who've traveled their journeys as long as I have.

Kudos to Katie Brown, at age 24, for charting her journey with the signposts of magic in each moment. Magic truly is whatever you want it to be.

The sacred places of Hiiumaa Island provide a sense of national identity and include trees, erratic boulders, meadows, and church sites to name a few.
Susan M Davis's insight:

This is a beautifully written post that touches the heart and feeds the soul. The spirit of place is tangible throughout and shows us that time, and sometimes the interference of man on sacred places, doesn't alter the power of our souls' connection.
