I agree with you Karen, the Google Story is very emotional and the product/service is blended in a natural way, not forced.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I liked the Google story the best. And it is easy for other companies to see how they might do something similar for their products/services. Glad you like the article Jose.

Storytelling :: Askinosie Chocolate &Farmers

Storytelling :: Askinosie Chocolate &Farmers | &co | Scoop.it

"We use storytelling to sell our chocolate every day," says Askinosie, a former criminal defense attorney, of the small-batch chocolatier he launched in 2007. "Our customers know our cocoa farmers because we share their stories on our packaging, website and other materials. The cocoa farmers are an integral part of our story." That story also makes it clear to customers that Askinosie pays higher than Fair Trade rates for beans, compensates farmers fairly (including profit sharing) and treats them like business partners instead of vendors.

A marvellous example of storytelling to promote Sustainability & Responsability

Open Source Real Estate - LifeEdited

Cities like New York and San Francisco are incomparable incubators for culture, facilitators of connection and global villages that hold the promise of sustainably supporting large populations. But these cities are also becoming prohibitively expensive for the very people who bring the most life to their streets. There is less and less space (literally and figuratively) for creativity and innovation without profit motive. And just when you’re about to lose hope and move to the country, when another gallery or independent business gets replaced by a bank kiosk, a project like miLES comes along.

Curation itself is nothing new — museums have used art curators for centuries — but online content curation is still in its early stages. The early years of the internet were like the “Wild West,” and because it was so new, there were few ethical or legal guidelines to police behavior.

Share stories...that's what people want to hear.

Jim Signorelli,Story-Lab's curator insight, October 25, 2013 7:54 AM

Annette Simmons,  one of the "Storyati," has a new weekly podcast.

In this, her second podcast, and while interviewing my delightful story friend Karen Dietz,  they talk about their connection to story, what it means to them and how they help others make the most of its power. Karen,  who claims she's more of a story scholar than a storyteller, does a pretty good job of telling her own story about some funny things that happened on the way to her doctorate.    Highly recommend a listen and subscribing to these podcasts.

Don Cloud's curator insight, October 25, 2013 9:25 PM

The best stories are those worth sharing.  Even better stories are those that a leader helps his/her people to create together.

There is so much more corporations can do to share knowledge. Sharing conversations using IM and private social media like Yammer is just the tip of the iceberg. I believe curation will be one catalyst that solves the firehose issue and lets people engage in the topics they are interested in for their career aspirations and adding more value to their employer. Scoop.it will be the leader in this next quest.
