An interesting story on how a UK GP decided to make CPD less painful by launching his own series of webinars.

 

It's great to read about a peer-led service that makes CPD easier for the community of GP's. Even better, Simon has made sure to include interactivity, making sure that the Q&A features of live seminars extend into his webinars.

Surely it's part of CPD's role to help science become practice.

 

No more than a third of evidence-based clinical guideline recommendations are routinely adhered to. That has to be considered as disappointing. That between 20% and 30% of clinical interventions may be unnecessary or even harmful - that's slightly scrary.

 

As CPD enablers, I think that we should be looking very closely at how we can help evidence-based guidelines become common practice, improving patient outcomes.
