Time for a New Definition of SEO

Time for a New Definition of SEO | COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT - CM2 | Scoop.it

SEO in the digital marketing mix is here to stay. Standardizing a definition of SEO will help buyers better understand the importance of it, the reason for committing to it, and the short- and long-term impact an SEO strategy has on a web presence.

Is Web Presence Optimization the Evolution of SEO?

So what is an accurate description of SEO given the changes to the industry?

Web presence optimization is an all-encompassing approach to optimizing an entire web presence for organic search including the website, social channels, blogs, articles and press releases. Where strategies, techniques, and tactics are still used, but content marketing and social media are strongly incorporated.

I'm not sure I agree with this 100%. I have always focused on quality content before SEO tactics. Now Google thinks this is valid, hooray. It's an interesting pyramid diagram, but I believe places too much emphasis on technical SEO. Quality content wins and Google's SEO modifications now reflect this.

The two things that customers want most often when they follow businesses on social media are discounts and social care (unless you believe the study that I wrote about earlier today that says people just want to feel closer to their businesses ‘:) ). Some of the statistics in this infographic are probably a little misleading (starting with the 30% number in the title – 30% of who?), but it clearly shows that customers want social care, people increasingly prefer social care over traditional care, and offers some best practice tips on how to provide social care effectively and efficiently....

The 21 New Rules of Content Marketing [INFOGRAPHIC] | COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT - CM2 | Scoop.it

"In this new world of Internet marketing, it's not about being "optimized," but being "easy to find." That sounds like a subtle difference, but it couldn't be more profound.

One has to do with page tags, keywords, and trying to manipulate incoming links; the other is about generating interesting ideas, starting discussions, and being a prominent voice in your market or industry. It's the difference between screaming nonsense through a microphone and having journalists come to you for an expert opinion.

This infographic sets out the 21 NEW rules of content marketing that every modern marketer should know. If you want to maintain a high search engine ranking and use content to keep targeted buyers coming to you, this is information you can't afford to skip".

I don´t think you need a blog, I think is good to have a blog. The important thing is not the blog itself, the important thing is the message you want to give using it; the, you can give the message using the blog, but, you can give the same message directly, using social networks and plain text messages (without links). Many customers don´t want click, want the message.

A Scientific Guide To Maximizing Your Impact On Twitter, Facebook, And Other Digital Media

A Scientific Guide To Maximizing Your Impact On Twitter, Facebook, And Other Digital Media | COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT - CM2 | Scoop.it

We’re pretty keen on optimal timing for social media here at Buffer, and I figured it was high time I collected all the information we have about online communication into one place. I’ve collected research and stats on Twitter, Facebook, email and blogging to help you find the best time to communicate with others in each format.

The tricky thing I’ve come across is that since the Web is still so new, a lot of the research available to us is conflicting. We really need more time and more studies to get definitive answers about what works best, and the fact that our audience members are constantly changing their own activity patterns makes it even harder to work out for sure. Looking at the latest social media stats seems to only confirm that.

So my suggestion would be to use this guide as just that--a guide to help you work out what to test for in your own audience, so that you can see what actually works best in your specific case....
