Little Pork Chop is a supersimple web app which allows you to post to Twitter longer messages than the typical 140 characters, by intelligently splitting your communication into multiple, numbered tweets.


To use it, you simply go the Little Porkchop page, type in or paste your message without worrying about length, and, instantly, the app previews for you how it would split into multiple tweets. You make your adjustments and you are set to tweet. 

A couple of nice additional touches include:

1) all of the following tweets after the first one in a sequence, are sent as replies to the first, so that the whole set can be read as a single thread,


2) the option to send tweets in reverse chronological order so that they will show up in the Twitter stream in the order you wrote them. 



Very useful. Easy. Immediate. 9/10

Facebook Open Graph

Since this is the foundation for all three of the plays I’m suggesting, let’s start here. The good news is that for WordPress users, plugins have been built that make all the coding aspects of these tactics very, very simple. I recommend that every WordPress Site owner install the WordPress SEO Plugin by Yoast. For non WordPress folks you can read the Facebook Open Graph implementation instructions here.

 

Twitter Cards

The implementation is pretty straightforward and the documentation pretty useful. Once you’ve set the meta data up on your site or page you do have to get validated and approved for the card types you wish to use. Simply go to the validator and click on the validate and approve tab and put in the URL for blog post. The tool will check for the OG code and allow you to submit. Twitter says it takes 2-4 weeks for approval, but when I submitted it took about 5 minutes.

 

Google Authorship

Google allows content producers to link their site and Google+ profile to content they produce. This includes content you write on your site and content you contribute to other sites. Simply add all the sites you contribute to in your Google+ profile to get this additional feature started. (it may take months to actually start showing up in search, so do it today!)

Billions of Geotagged Tweets Visualized in Twitter's Amazing Maps | COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT - CM2 | Scoop.it

Ever wonder what it would look like to plot every single geotagged tweet since 2009 on a map? Twitter has done just that.

 

Twitter posted these maps of Europe, New York City, Tokyo and Istanbul on its blog Friday. They use billions of geotagged tweets: Every dot represents a tweet, with the brighter colors showing a higher concentration of tweets. It's pretty amazing how the mapped-out tweets clearly match with population centers, highways and the like — though perhaps that's obvious.

Some smart guy said Twitter is not a Technology • It's a Conversation and will ocurr with or without you and knowing where the conversation is happening can be very useful to online marketers who use Twitter

Unit 1 Nature and Perspectives of Geography.                                 This is a map of all of the geotagged twitter posts from 2009 to now in the United States. Its shows population distribution and points of interest that people like to travel to. It shows dense population centers and highways. You can see the roads in the map because of space in the map not covered. The brighter colors are in higher population and more popular travel destinations. This is a map of many types.                                                                                                          This map is a part of unit 1 because it is a map of a basic geographic concept. This map is a functional map of sorts because it shows points of travel that people go to, but it is not varied by distance so it is not a precise version. This map is a definite example of a thematic map because it shows the story of the travel destinations of five years of their lives.
