Hi everyone,

I have found a fantastic resource in which a specialist teacher Carol Todd is demonstrating how to use two particular literacy and numeracy resources.

These are just two of many educational Apps that can be downloaded to a smart phone, ipod or ipad for students to be engaged, motivated and develop there skills further. These two apps are linked with the Australian Curriculum: Technology descriptors

·         Identify, use and explore digital systems (hardware
and software components) for a purpose (ACTDIK001) and

·         Work with others to create and organise ideas and information using information systems, and share these with known people in safe online environments (ACTDIP006) (ACARA, 2014), as it uses a digital system (Ipad) for the purpose of developing literacy and numeracy skills. These games can be used individually or with others to share thoughts, ideas, strategies, and responses to create a safe environment.

The one negative about this video is the selection of the literacy resource. I would have preferred a spelling/writing game in which it sounded out the sound the letter makes rather than the letters name to assist the student further in reading as well.

Hope you enjoyed this video :)

Hi everyone,

If you haven't already I really suggest that you read the above article. This is a fantastic article as not only does it explicitly provide ICT reading and writing tools that can be used for a particular purpose, but explains the benefits of using these technologies and how they create inclusive learning.

As information and ways of accessing this information is becoming more abundant  it is important that we as educators collaborate and share resources, material, strategies to assist each other in meeting our students needs to the best of out abilities. We not only need to find resources that are engaging, motivating and encouraging, we need to find material that covers and links to our curriculum.

This article provides resources that teachers should use when teaching language and reading. Referring to the Australian Curriculum:Technologies identifies, uses and explores a digital system for the purpose  (ACTDIK001) (ACARA, 2014), of reading and writing in a inclusive and safe online environment.

Please check it out and enjoy :)
