This does give direction and clarity to people for easy planning of investment. However, I believe such low artificial interest rate would have downside to society, like exploiting savers.

UK house prices are rising at 5.4% a year, the highest rate for three years, according to the Halifax.

The rising house prices is mainly driven by the force of the Help to Buy scheme. The government should be really careful and selective in approving mortgages to affordable buyers, or else, a property bubble may occur.
