In a nutshell

Boo Gilbraith's insight:

Cloudspotting - Micro  Music, Food and Beer Festival July 26-28

As  music acts jostle for position across the various stages of the ever-growing  modern UK music festival, our friends at Cloudspotting opt for a policy of 'less is more' in their pursuit of a summer weekend retreat  of fine leftfield sounds and good company. The very essence of what a good  festival should be about.
www.cloudspotting.org.uk

Great  live music, fine food, ale, and outdoor activities for all ages (archery  anyone?) promises to make it a weekend to remember.

Who's on?

The  opening day features a headline show from Liverpool's  reclusive lab-coat wearing psychonauts CLINIC,  and the Welsh flag will be flying high on the first night as two of the  province's finest indie acts COLORAMA and SWEET BABOO bring their exuberance  and song-writing depth to proceedings.

Undercurrents  of electronica have always been staple to the Cloudspotting diet; second stage  headliner on Friday, MAGIC ARM-Manchester's  stunningly original one-man band - will be followed on Saturday by main stager JONNIE  COMMON, an affable Glasgow maverick who delivered such an intensely joyous  hour last year he has been rewarded with an after-dark main stage slot.

Also  on Saturday, Fence Records artists EAGLEOWL and SEAMUS FOGARTY trade sets, the  atmospheric new project from former Super Furry Animals' bassist Guto Pryce and  partner Lindsey Leven, aka GULP, the  magnificent WOLF PEOPLE, and one  utterly compelling female protagonist in JESCA  HOOP, who will bring all her wild and beguiling attributes to becalm the  audience round sunset time.

Picking  up the thread early on Friday evening is the curiously brilliant SERAFINA STEER, finally enjoying the  acclaim of a wider audience for her distinctive sonic style that weaves  majestic harp playing, ethereal vocals and electronic undercurrents. Produced by Jarvis Cocker, her third LP The Moths Are Real, is dreamy and  arresting. Her live set promises to  bliss those in attendance for the weekend to follow.

On  Sunday, KING CREOSOTE, with backing  from several members of THE EARLIES,  will bring a weight of well crafted songs and spontaneous arrangements, evoking  memories of 2011's Bits of Strange tour  of Lancashire. Some of that line-up will  also be appearing earlier in the day as members of other incarnations TOKOLOSH and the irresistible SARA LOWES, who finally makes her  Cloudspotting bow after three years of being asked!

Prolifically  clever trio THE WAVE PICTURES, the  grizzled and guttural blues/folk legend MICHAEL  CHAPMAN and locally loved RICHARD  MOSS complete the picture once the North    West's finest gospel choir begins main stage  proceedings. On the Soundbytes stage,  its locals' day, so expect flat caps, whippets and a wealth of worthy  singer-songwriters and bands topped off by the jigs and reels of highly  regarded traditional folk band DROP THE  FLOOR.

See the full line-up at-a -glance  further down this mailout or on the Cloudspotting website here

And there's more than 'just' music

THE BITTER SUITE (Beer Tent)
Cloudspotting  has attracted numerous local breweries-including Dent, Hopstar, Bowland,  Settle and Lancaster,  DoveSyke-to help provide a Micro Beer Festival featuring a selection of the  finest Ales and Ciders-and even hangover cures !

FOOD Courtyard
Saturday  Farmers style market and a choice of great regional grub to choose from  throughout the weekend in addition to the Forest Den Cafes fabulous festival  breakfasts.

KIDS' activities
Den-building,  bushcraft, archery and a climbing wall for the bigger ones.
Music  sessions with Fundrum and arts and crafts for early years.

MORE Surprises
We  wouldn't want to tell you everything about this year's Cloudspotting Festival.  Where would the fun be in that? Suffice  to say there'll be surprises round every corner and we promise a great summer  celebration of creativity and fun in a wonderful place.

Where is it?

Cloudspotting  has now moved to a fantastic open space in complete seclusion offering a safe,  family friendly environment. Stephen Park is a rambling 16th century farm house  set in several acres of clearing in the beautiful Gisburn Forest in the Forest  of Bowland (NE Lancashire), an area of outstanding natural beauty.

CLOUDSPOTTING FESTIVAL 2014

Boo Gilbraith's insight:

We are very chuffed to make our first line-up announcement for Cloudspotting 2014.

We can confirm one of the most talked about and freshest new bands out there – Melt Yourself Down – to headline our trip-tastic Friday night.

Saturday we are delighted to confirm The Leisure Society as headliners – a band with a mighty reputation for exhilarating live performances and an arsenal of brilliant songs behind them.  They’ve also twice been nominated for the Ivor Novello songwriting award (the only act ever to be nominated two years consecutively).

A number of great acts lie waiting in the wings – edging towards the finish line – but we are also very happy to be welcoming the Welsh wizards Colorama back after their awesome performance last year.

They will be joined by fellow Welsh noiseniks Islet and the Isle of Eigg's most famous son, Pictish Trail – who will be bringing an ensemble of acts from his new label Lost Map – Randolph’s Leap, Monoganon and Tuff Love.

Cloudspotting 2014 tickets are already selling well. Don’t delay in buying yours, safe in the knowledge that we’re a fraction of the price of most other festivals.

Don’t miss out! Cloudspotting tickets are on sale now: http://www.wegottickets.com/f/7058

…plus loads more acts to coming soon including our Sunday headliner!
