Although there is room for improvement the internet will never be anything even remotely close to 100% secure. So long as there is money to be made via  fraudulent ways it will always attract the wrong crowd. Best we can do is be vigilant.

This blog post makes the interesting point that as more and more essential infrastructure is migrated online the potential fallout from a malicious attack is increasing to the stage where even essential services like electricity, water, and transportation are all exposed to potential attacks.

Most certainly the Google suite of Apps are up to many of the day to day functions one would expect. Nonetheless, certain PC application still have no alternative.

 

Doubts as to whether Chromebook has a future will persist. Nonetheless, IMHO it will not be the PC Desktop environment that will threaten its existance, but the rise of the tablet ecosystems.

Software as a service, often referred to as "on-demand software" supplied by Software developers, is a software delivery model in which software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud.


This Infographic shows us the growing need for both Software Developers using this delivery method and the growth of Cloud Computing in relation to Software Development.

Security is a real issue even though it is true that cloud computing is just as safe as traditional systems when it comes to apparent vulnerabilities and security holes. This is because of the nature of cloud computing, the public cloud, there are a lot more people with proximity access to the data. What I mean is that compared to an in-house system where there is virtually no connection to the outside internet, the whole world will now be potentially be able to just walk up to your door, so to speak, in public cloud systems.
