CloudOn - yes, the company known best for bringing Microsoft Office to the iPad – has just closed a $16 million Series B round led by The Social+Capital Partnership with participation from Translink Capital as well as existing investors Foundation Capital and Rembrandt Venture Partners. Mamoon Hamid, General Partner at Social+Capital, will now join CloudOn’s Board of Directors as a part of the funding.

A new app for the streaming game service adds some enhancements -- but unlike its predecessor, it isn't free.

 

This Plus version isn't free: You'll need to pony up $5 per month for the service (the app itself is still free). But the Plus version does add Internet Explorer 9 to the software suite, along with access to third-party storage sites including Box.net and Dropbox. You also get "priority access", which means you're served first if the OnLive servers ever get overloaded.
