A Cloud with a Mind of Its Own – Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Services

Chris Mackinga's curator insight, March 27, 3:05 AM

This article is mostly clickbait, but I was more dismayed than I expected to be upon reading the article. It claims that Eugene Goostman passed the Turing test in 2014, however this is not only untrue but an inaccurate representation of facts. The program was pretending to be a foreigner with English as a second language which would account for a lot of the logical inconsistencies that spawn when you attempt to have a sentient mind interact with an artificial one. Overall, this article was as disappointing as its opening premise.

Patrick Bolter's curator insight, March 27, 3:53 AM

As cloud based technology grows along side with other technologies such as artificial intelligence, it tends to cross over with each other where possible. Chips designed to operate like the human brain may become more common in the future as we understand more and more just how our brains work to transmit, store and translate data.

Liam Southwell's curator insight, March 31, 12:48 AM

An incredible description on where we stand now. The article briefly covers Alan Turing's humanity test - essentially a human speaks to another entity, and if they make the guess that the entity they are speaking to is human - then it is. It has feelings and a mind. Recently, we passed this test with artificial intelligence we have created. Moore's law suggests that this technology will be readily available in as little as five years, due to the exponential expansion of technology. Once a proof of concept is shown (as in this article), the steps to take it to consumer availability become shorter and shorter as each day passes.
