Salesforce.com joins G-Cloud

Enterprise cloud computing firm Salesforce.com has joined the UK government's G-Cloud framework, the cross-departmental initiative focused on introducing cloud computing across the public sector.

 

It means government organisations can now obtain Salesforce.com's cloud computing applications and platform through the G-Cloud Cloudstore.

The Government Digital Service (GDS) has signed a £100,000 one-year contract with Carrenza to help host the GOV.UK goverment services portal.

The advice from the panel at the Think G-Cloud 2012 conference on Thursday was simple: don't call it Cloud - it only puts people off!

 

In what was a relatively straight forward back and forth between representatives from Warwickshire County Council, trade association Intellect and not-for-profit provider Eduserv, the panelists pitched the notion that Cloud Computing needs to be the alternative, not the solution.
