Peter Azzopardi's insight:

Another blow!! Unless users can be assured that their rights to privacy are being upheld, why would anyone store sensitive data in the cloud?

Yes, Apple Really Does Have A Serious Problem With Computer Viruses And Malware - Forbes

Yes, Apple Really Does Have A Serious Problem With Computer Viruses And Malware - Forbes | Cloud Central | Scoop.it
As those with memories stretching back a couple of decades will recall the various forms of computer malware, the viruses, trojans and the like, were things that affected Microsoft Windows users.
Peter Azzopardi's insight:

The author is being rather kind IMO. Malware, trojans, adware, all this stuff is there for one reason and one reason alone. Money! In this case via illicit means. And yes MacOS and iOS are certainly worth targetting now.

The real difference here is that MS knows Windows has holes, but has a dedicated taskforce to deal and patch ASAP. Apple, OTOH, never had to deal with such a situation and have been caught with their pants down. I think it is a cause for concern but by no means irrepairable.

How Apple Sees the Cloud: Not Like You Do

How Apple Sees the Cloud: Not Like You Do | Cloud Central | Scoop.it
The news from Apple at Monday’s Worldwide Developers Conference left me with the same impression I’ve had about many presentations from the company: This looks neat, but at what point will I find my data or my apps on the wrong side of an elegantly designed, Apple-built wall? Apple’s preview page, however, says Windows uploading will be limited to just Windows 8 — as in, the version that CEO Tim Cook mocked at the start of the WWDC keynote for running on a mere 14 percent of PCs.
Peter Azzopardi's insight:

iCloud Drive looks like an improvement, but three years after iCloud’s debut, it still functions more as a cable connecting Apple-approved devices than as a window open to all.

Cloud control is key to the future of the internet

Cloud control is key to the future of the internet | Cloud Central | Scoop.it

Manuel Castells, the leading scholar of cyberspace, has coined a neat term to describe our current mental state in relation to the internet: "informed bewilderment". Our problem is not that we are short of information about the phenomenon: on the contrary, we are awash with numbers. The problem is that we don't know what they mean.
