Canonical's new project, LXD, or the Linux Container Demon, lets users work with Docker containers to deploy the functional equivalent of full-blown isolated Linux VMs, not merely individual containerized apps.

INFOGRAPHIC: Open Cloud Computing: Why Go Open?

INFOGRAPHIC: Open Cloud Computing: Why Go Open? | L'Univers du Cloud Computing dans le Monde et Ailleurs | Scoop.it

Rackspace has changed the game again with the OpenStack-powered open cloud. The Rackspace Cloud is now built on OpenStack, the open source cloud operating system that we founded and is backed by a community of developers and organizations. We’re committed to leveraging open source technologies and open standards to help our customers avoid the threat of vendor lock-in and to foster innovation. The infographic below explores some of the benefits of open environments and highlights the successes of other open projects that have altered the course of business computing.

An amazing project with a huge team of specialists.

"A typical use case would be where the demand from the physicists exceeds the resources that are available in the CERN clouds," said Bell. "This often occurs coming up to scientific conferences in order to process the latest data from the LHC and its experiments in order to improve scientific precision of their analysis."
