Plans to restructure the company have not seemed to hinder IBM’s innovation for the past year as the company received more patents in 2014 than any other company.

Marcus Gruenwald's curator insight, January 18, 2015 6:29 PM

Over time, IBM has successfully reinvented several times, thus avoiding the fate other tech giants faced. If nothing else, it is more proof for the sceptics, that cloud - or utility computing - is here to stay!

Richard Neto's curator insight, March 27, 2015 6:56 AM

In this article written by Sarah Roden, IBM hopes to overhaul its diminishing hardware sales through the investment of software, mainly cloud based computing. IBM hopes to restore their name as they continue to file for patents clearly topping the patent list for 2014 buy a large margin. this shows that IBM has high hopes for cloud computing and is investing many of its resources into the technology and moving way from from hardware based to software based. IBM is another example of how cloud computing is taking the IT industry by storm.

Wiktor Helak's curator insight, January 9, 2015 6:07 PM

Alexandra Minks's curator insight, March 21, 2015 3:07 AM

Cloud computing was a huge success in 2014 so there is no doubt that the technology will continue to move forward and become one of the most important technologies of the next ten years. Cloud computing increases a user's accessibility to their files over a number of devices and also reduces the amount of storage required on hard drives, making it a very useful technology for the future.
