A Day In The Life Of The Internet – infographic

A Day In The Life Of The Internet – infographic | Clothing Manufacturer and Exporter from Bangladesh | Scoop.it

'There are close to two and-a-half billion people online around the world – this number has grown 566 percent since the year 2000 – and 70 percent of them use the internet every day. As you might imagine, with that kind of presence, which amounts to more than a third of the global population, quite a lot happens over the course of each 24 hours.

The Internet never sleeps.  Is it possible to even fathom the idea of any given moment without someone in the world being connected to the Internet for one reason or another?  It wasn’t that long ago that the Internet wasn’t even a thing, but anymore it’s something that we can’t do without.  ztake a look at “A Day in the Life of the Internet”...

Why Content Curation and Crowdsourcing Will Change Everything

Why Content Curation and Crowdsourcing Will Change Everything | Clothing Manufacturer and Exporter from Bangladesh | Scoop.it

From the original article by Tom George on his "Internet Billboards".
Here are some interesting excerpts from the post about content curation.
"After having spent the better part of four years curating content from renowned bloggers, journalists and authors as well as building a platform here on Internet Billboards, which has evolved into a wonderful community of content curator’s.

Here is my definition of content curation. A content curator is someone who finds, organizes, presents and shares valuable information (content) in many forms, on a specific topic, in a way that provides special context and or a unique engagement with his or her readers. In actuality when done correctly, over time it positions the curator as an expert in his or her respective field and defines their reputation as a thought leader.

A good curator will mix curation with his or her own original content, to give interpretations for the express purpose of allowing others to form their own conclusions.
...
Why curation and crowdsourcing will and should become more important to you. I will give you ten reasons.
1. There is just too much content;
2. Social Sites Are Full Of Spam;
3. Privacy concerns with big data;
4. Limiting risk and using many minds;
5. Technology must assist us and help us not hinder us;
6. People Will recognize the need to build meaningful relationships;
7. Information will flow freely;
8. Trust and authority will be the new currency;
9. Curation helps you establish relationships with thought leaders;
10. Crowd Sourcing can make things possible..."

The article is discussed with more information. Read full original post here:

William Moeller Marketing & Design's comment, June 12, 6:46 PM
Hi Teresa. Curation creates its own set of challenges, and proper attribution to the content source(s) remains a big one, particularly in short form communication (e.g., Twitter). As a content curator, I strive to acknowledge my sources. But what if my nearest source was another curator, who perhaps shared it from another curator. With limited number of characters allowed, we have no choice but to truncate the value stream, occasionally (and unwittingly) leaving out the original author.
Therese Torris's comment, June 14, 1:19 PM
William, I agree it's not always easy. I still find that some systems are better than others at encouraging attribution. For exemple Scoop.it keeps the link to the original site from which the content was clipped. Thus there is a way to go to the source.
Stephen Dale's curator insight, June 15, 3:29 AM

I liked the definition of Curation from Tome George (author of the piece):

"A content curator is someone who finds, organizes, presents and shares valuable information (content) in many forms, on a specific topic, in a way that provides special context and or a unique engagement with his or her readers. In actuality when done correctly, over time it positions the curator as an expert in his or her respective field and defines their reputation as a thought leader. It’s been a while since SocialTimes did a round-up of the various tools that helped users manage their Twitter accounts by finding who to follow, following new people, unfollowing many people at once and organizing groups of users they follow into lists.
