These tweets tax comprehension.
Rebecca Olivier's insight:

It is absolutely sickening that a company would try to make profit off of such a tragedy. Not only is it disrespectful to the victims and Boston as a whole, but it also gives the company a bad rap. I can't wait to see how the PR firm for this company handles the bad publicity this company will be recieving.

HICKS: MTV exploits viewers to make a quick buck

HICKS: MTV exploits viewers to make a quick buck | Clipping Book PR | Scoop.it
I have joked for years that MTV is destroying civilization as we know it. Then, the network gave us “Jersey Shore,” and proved my joke wasn’t funny, it was true.
Rebecca Olivier's insight:

MTV is very well known for the reality television shows they have created. They portray their so called "stars" in a light that makes viewers question why exactly anyone would go ahead and sign up for such a show. A recent example is "buck wild." The show is based on teenagers born and raised in the country and exploits their lives to major extents. This article was very refreshing to read because it is exactly what MTV seems to do. I can just picture the staff sitting around a table and thinking up new ways to exploits new teenagers. I would not put it passed them.

Female techie fired after tweeting about 'sexist' remarks at conference | Clipping Book PR | Scoop.it
A female developer was fired after tweeting about a group of men she said were making sexual comments at a computer programming conference, fueling an already vigorous debate about gender equality and culture in Silicon Valley.
Rebecca Olivier's insight:

Although the women who recieved these rude remarks posted something on twitter through impulse, I don't think she should have faced these types of consequences. Yes, she was a little out of like and yes, she should have spoke to someone about it however she was absolutely the victim in this situation and was not treated equally.

Amid Boston horror, acts of kindness abound - TODAY.com | Clipping Book PR | Scoop.it
As investigators search for answers in Monday's Boston Marathon bombing, stories of people helping strangers amid the chaos continue to...
Rebecca Olivier's insight:

It is very refreshing to see the bystanders threw themselves into the recovery of the victims. It shows the great character of Boston itself and also the people living within it. The injured were rushed to the hospital and people were immediately by their side. The ones who were fortunate enough to come out unharmed were helped by locals willing to give them a hand. It is amazing to see that there are still people out there who are not constantly concerned for their own well-being. Boston is very lucky to have the community that they do. Pray for Boston.

Facebook extends pay-to-message trial | Clipping Book PR | Scoop.it
Facebook is going global with a trial service that lets you directly contact celebrities and people who are outside of your network -- but this privilege comes with a price.
Rebecca Olivier's insight:

Facebook has found a new way to contract money off of their users. They are charging users to send direct messages to non friends and people outside of their network. Not only that, but they are also creating a junk file that the direct messages will be filed into. They also believe this will help celebrities and those who are well-known with the large sum of fan mail their inboxes recieve. I do believe it is a good idea that they run a trial period because I think they will run into conflict.
