DNA of a 21st Century Educator Simplified!

During your lifetime you have probably experienced inspirational educators, or witnessed inspiring lectures. But, what about you? Are you such an educator? If not, why not? In this talk, I [Zaid Alsagoff] explored some of the ingredients top educators in the 21st century have, and how we can learn from them to reinvent ourselves to reach our true potential as an educator. This talk was given on the 9 February (2013) at Jazan University (Saudi Arabia).

Muy  interesante¡¡¡

Audrey's curator insight, August 16, 2013 4:50 AM

I am taking this a bit further. How do you programme someone to become a potential 21st Century Educator?  Start from the home by educating pre-schoolers. The Piagetian and Montessori idea of presenting children with a variety of educational toys and games suitable for their age and helping them to assimilate new learning is basically simple.  This is just the beginning..........

Best Practices: Update your profile settings and improve your user experience inside Moodle.

Best Practices: Update your profile settings and improve your user experience inside Moodle. | Climbing the Moodle ladder | Scoop.it

Every person with an account in Moodle has a user profile that displays personal information. By default, the user profile is viewable by any other users in the system, and it displays information such as first and last name, email address, last access date and other personal details that the user decides to share.

Updating and selecting the appropriate user profile settings within Moodle is an important first step for any user, and many people often overlook these settings. It is within the user profile settings where you can choose how to see certain features in the system, define which information is visible to other users, and select how to receive messages and notifications.

Atto Plugin Template now available from @poodllguy

Atto Plugin Template now available from @poodllguy | Climbing the Moodle ladder | Scoop.it

Justin Hunt’s (@Poodllguy) recently released a Plugin Template for working with Atto, the new Moodle text editor introduced this week in Moodle 2.7. Justin’s Poodll plugins provide a lot of options right in the text editor. With the switch to Atto each needs to be updated (including the Youtube Anywhere for Moodleplugin).

If you’re working on a new plugin for Atto check out Justin’s post here: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=260165 (in addition to a follow up with additional tips from Andrew Nichols).

The Template can be found at https://github.com/justinhunt/moodle-atto_newtemplate

Moodle plugins directory: Media collection

Moodle plugins directory: Media collection | Climbing the Moodle ladder | Scoop.it

Media collection is an activity that enables users to create galleries (of image/audio/video). The galleries themselves have many display options the user can choose such as displaying in a grid or carousel, and defining the number of items to show per row/column and such.

Each item can have metadata supplied (title, publisher, medium, production date, etc).

When viewing a gallery, selecting an item brings up a lightbox interface that allows the user to view a larger version of the item along with the metadata. Social options are also visible in the lightbox interface (liking & commenting).

Moodle 2.5 Wiki Beginner Tutorial - Moodle Tuts

Moodle 2.5 Wiki Beginner Tutorial - Moodle Tuts | Climbing the Moodle ladder | Scoop.it

Moodle 2.5 Wiki beginner tutorial. Moodle wikis are collections of collaboratively authored web pages, beginning with a home page that students can edit, and to which they can link more pages. You can create wikis at course, group and individual level.

Moodle Wikis are particularly useful as part of a group work activity. They are places where students can present the fruits of their research, or the drafts of their group reports, for comment and input from the other members of the group. The reporting features enable instructors to more fairly assess the individual input of team members, and to view the project within the course site.
