I haven’t mocked Fox News in a while—it’s so easy it seems almost cruel—but this compendium of dumbosity spewed by that channel needs to be seen to be disbelieved. The moment I saw the first few seconds I was chuckling ruefully.

In Australia Organisational such as IPA and Murdock newspapers such as The Australian are pushing similar non-science and promoting the idea that you can have a belief on science. At least this puts it into a similar sphere to other beliefs such as religion which also ignore science.

This is an interesting debate - should potentially dangerous information be given a voice. A similar case occurs with vaccination. Every time some crank says that vaccination is bad more people choose not to protect their children from preventable diseases and other peoples children are put at risk. Should these cranks have a voice...

 

my natural inclination is towards free expression, but when the harm is potentially so severe, I am tempted, but not yet convinced by the argument to stop their voice. Perhaps a Flat Earth column to quarantiine the  erroneous views but still allow them voice?
