In 2008 Oxford University launched The Great War Archive. This publicly sourced online collection of documents and artefacts funded by JISC, sat alongside The First World War Poetry Digital Archive, containing images of manuscripts and biographies of poets. The idea was subsequently taken up by Europeana, Europe's digital library and museum, as a major project to 'crowdsource' material across the Continent relating to 1914 ' 1918. In Germany in 2011 this became known as Erster Weltkrieg in Allertagsdokumenten ; the 'First World War in Everyday Documents'.
