Easy iPad Management for Education- At Scale!

Easy iPad Management for Education- At Scale! | #classroomtech | Scoop.it

iPad deployment includes all of the steps between buying an iPad and beginning to use the device. For an individual’s personal iPad, this is often a very fast and easy process lasting no longer than five minutes: You just open the box, turn it on, download the apps you want on your device, and go. But for a school, or district, with potentially hundreds of iPads–each one requiring a specialized list of apps that need to be purchased before protecting the devices with a case and sending them out to classrooms. As an administrator or teacher, there are a few things you will need to know before you deploy your iPads

How to Get High-Quality Student Work in PBL

How to Get High-Quality Student Work in PBL | #classroomtech | Scoop.it

This is a common concern of teachers who are new to project-based learning. Things can appear to be going smoothly -- students have been engaged by the project, they've been learning content and skills, they've been busy and meeting deadlines -- but their thinking is not as in-depth and their final products not as polished as they should be. If this is your experience, it's time to ask yourself some questions:

Ashleigh Sweetman's curator insight, February 20, 11:42 AM

I loved this Edutopia article! It answered many of the questions I have as a future teacher about project-based learning. I am really interested in how to find out whether or not the students are engaged in the project. If they are not engaged, how do teachers alter their projects to make all students engaged?  I feel that project-based learning is extremely beneficial for students inside and outside of the classroom.  This article will be really helpful in my future classroom when I begin to have trouble managing my students' project-based learning.

Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be.

Is Content Curation in Your Skill Set? It Should Be. | #classroomtech | Scoop.it

Curation is a growing need in organizations, and as such, a growing competency for those focused on worker performance. At the same time, the vision of what this competency looks like in practice is cloudy. How will what we do look different when we add curation to our skill sets?

Sure it is!!  Last week I showed my students how to scoopit.  I thought that since they seem to love Facebook, Scoopit was going to be a wow experience for them.  However, contrary to my expectations most of them did not show a real interest, or at least the kind of interest I expected.  What a pain!  Maybe it is a matter of time, culture, love for reading and writing, etc.  From a group of 12 youngers, only 2 of them said:  Thanks teacher, I like it!  Well... I will keep on trying...

Assessing the Potential of the Nation's Largest 1:1 iPad Program | #classroomtech | Scoop.it

President Obama has announced a plan to bring high speed internet to most US schools within 5 years. Allan Shaw's curator insight, August 7, 2013 9:44 PM

Schooling itself is a systems technology where resources (people, time, places, curriculum, assessment etc) are geared to attain goals some of which are explicit and some implicit. Creativity has never been an explicit goal, perhaps quite the oppositie (confromity and standardisation) has been the case. Creativity needs a culture and systems that are sensitive to and allow for some ambiguity, error, iterations on the same theme and patience. I'm not sure the current systems can manage that even with the adjustments suggested in this graphic.
