I tried copying and pasting complex texts in the app. The summarised version was just the first part of the text, word for word. Has anyone used it in any way that showed the apps usefulness?

Tons of Classroom Examples Using Augmented Reality | Classroom Without Walls | Scoop.it

Augmented reality allows someone to add another layer to an existing image.  For example, imagine holding your phone over a poster on the wall as if you were going to take a photo of that poster, and then instantly a video starts playing to offer you additional information about that particular poster.  Pretty cool, right?  The first time it happens, it seems like magic.

Apple TV in Schools - iPad 4 Schools - Making Simple Sense of iPads in Schools

Apple TV in Schools - iPad 4 Schools - Making Simple Sense of iPads in Schools | Classroom Without Walls | Scoop.it

"Apple TV (US$99) is a box you attach to the projector / TV that picks up the screen of any iPad and displays it without the need for wires! The teacher can walk around their room and display anything that’s on their iPad screen on the Projector/TV. This means the teacher can display from anywhere and even use the iPads camera to show student work ‘live’ without gathering students around one point in the room."

Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge - Mark Anderson's Blog

Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge - Mark Anderson's Blog | Classroom Without Walls | Scoop.it

"In my work, I’ve been trying to apply these three things in order to bring about use of technology in lessons that doesn’t dictate that technology is at the heart of everything we do but there as something which will enhance the PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge) based learning that is happening. The TPACK model has certainly been giving me plenty of food for thought. I’ve been looking at it and pondering it for some time. Part of my methodology for thinking behind how it might fit in a classroom was to re-create the classic TPACK Venn model so that I could make sense of it in my own head. Reproduced below with kind permission of the publisher, © 2012 by tpack.org with the addition of the 7 different elements of TPACK is my version:"Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge model - ideas, framework and practical applications."

50 Fab Apps for Teachers | Scholastic.com

50 Fab Apps for Teachers | Scholastic.com | Classroom Without Walls | Scoop.it

"Education—there’s an app for that. In fact, there are hundreds of thousands of apps on the market designed for teaching and learning. As more schools bring tablets into the classroom, educators like Genia Connell are finding that apps are game changers.

“I have yet to see anything in education that generates excitement and motivates students the way tablets do,” says the third-grade teacher from Leonard Elementary School in Troy, Michigan. Connell points to e-reading apps like Storia that not only engage students but also level the playing field for struggling readers. “Differentiation has become easier with apps because so many of them have built-in levels of complexity.”

By many accounts, some of the most powerful education apps are used for teaching reading and supporting differentiation for students with disabilities. But their capabilities are endless. Developers have created easy-to-use programs that serve as learning platforms for students and as organization tools for teachers. Here are 50 fabulous apps that are helping to change the face of education."

As a kind of social media, smart phones provides a good channel for the promotion of many brands and products.

This article allows any teacher to see what tips and ideas they can use with smartphones within their classroom. This is leaning more towards middle school and high school, due to the students in elementary not having phones.

Leslie Buford's curator insight, May 10, 2013 10:05 AM

The voting 'eggs' in the suitcase, where each needed to be programmed, are obsolete.  Students and teachers can use their web devices to quickly set up polls and other interactive feedback quickly and easily with web based options, of which this is one of the simplest.  For iPad users, check out NearPod, Socrative, or Doceri, each with its own feature ist, to see which works best for you!  It can be difficult to move from traditonal modes of presentation to building interaction into instruction, but I am trying to plan future PD courses using this type of technology.  I would love feedback from teachers and professional development specialists about what works, pitfalls to look out for, and any other resources that you may suggest.
