Conservatives create more jobs and less regulations/restrictions on job growth, therefore it's not surprising the fastest growing cities are leaning Conservative/right. Perhaps there is hope yet to take back America from the liberals who are set on destroying us...if only before 2014!

Classical Conservatism and The Founding

Who’s A Real Libertarian Now? | TIME.com | Classical Conservatism and The Founding | Scoop.it
A new survey shows that libertarians are fully capable of throwing any election in their direction. Now if we can just get politicians to live up to libertarian ideals.
Joe Winpisinger's insight:

This is a powerful study that shows that 22% of the electorate is libertarian or libertarian leaning.

Americans’ views on the U.S. as world policeman are changing.

Are our only choices isolationist or interventionist? What about a combination of both where we pull back and let others take up their own defense but still keep a vigilant eye on Islam, China, and Russia?

He argues that increasing inequality is an inevitable outcome of laissez-faire capitalism, and proposes we fix this with a global wealth tax.
Joe Winpisinger's insight:

Money Quote: "Will ownership turn out to be largely a hack people resorted to before they had the infrastructure to manage sharing properly?"

Does this sound like Karl Marx? I would say so. Ownership tells me what is my and what is yours. It also breeds competition which has been proven to be the best way to advance society. There is a difference between self-interest and greed. The former considers its neighbor but not at the expense of themselves.

Joe Winpisinger's insight:

Money quote: "Democrats decry that characterization and say the new filibuster rule was intended solely to unblock gridlock in the Senate."

Too bad the Senate was intended to be the body that would help prevent ill advised laws passed by "transient majorities" that disappear when people find out the truth about them and begin to oppose it. Almost always it is too late and the ill advised law carries on with tragic affects.

Martin Armstrong Asks "Do The Feds Really Own The Land In Nevada?" | Zero Hedge

Martin Armstrong Asks "Do The Feds Really Own The Land In Nevada?" | Zero Hedge | Classical Conservatism and The Founding | Scoop.it
"Is it true that nearly 80% of Nevada is still owned by the Federal Government who then pays no tax to the State of Nevada? This seems very strange if true as a backdrop to this entire Bundy affair." The truth behind Nevada is of course just a quagmire of politics. Sorry, but to all the commentators who call Bundy a tax-cheat and an outlaw, be careful of what you speak for the Supreme Court has made it clear in 1845 that the Constitution forbids the federal rangers to be out there to begin with for the Feds could not retain ownership of the territory and simultaneously grant state sovereignty. At the very minimum, it became state land – not federal.
Joe Winpisinger's insight:

Another post on the property rights issues surrounding the Bundy Ranch. This seems to indicate that Nevada's decision to cede public lands to the Federal government was made void by the Pollard decision.

Paine vs. Burke is a great frame for our modern discussion about the role of government is society. This post does a good job of outlining that discussion. However, I take exception to anything that make Burke out to be a liberal. He was not and this post seeks to make him out to be one.

Joe Winpisinger's insight:

We have been so tinged with the Progressive controlled public schools for the last 100 years that we have just about lost all objective thought about American history. Marxist leaning Presidents like FDR are idolized even by supposed Conservatives like Newt Gingrich but men like Calvin Coolidge and Grover Cleveland are never studied or even discussed. If we want to restore our Republic by reintroducing Conservative principles into society then this must change.
