The canal saved about 7,800 miles from San Francisco to New York, making shipping cheaper, It took about ten years to complete and is considered a huge feat.

Civil engineers impact people's lives on an every day basis without you even knowing it. They are the ones who make sure your water works, the roads are complete, your power works, and there is a safe building for your kids to go to school. They impact every aspect of the world.

The metro tunnel in D.C. was a huge accomplishment and over 500 engineers collaborated on the project. It has now made transportation for passengers more efficient. Engineers had to keep the cost of the project to a minimum while maximizing the amount of material they can use while keeping it safe.

The engineers have to keep the tanks as low cost as possible but maintaining the safety and plausibility of the project. Over 100 engineers wee hired to consult on the project.

Bullit center in Seattle is a completely energy free building. Seattle is not known for being a sunny place but this building produces as much energy as it uses making it one of the first energy free buildings.

The engineers designed the food to be With 1400 square ft. of solar panels with a tilt. The tilt of the roof allows the roof to absorb greater amounts of sunlight. This will likely be the model for future "Green" buildings in the future.

Of the twenty tallest buildings in the wold, the oldest building is the empire state building built in 1931 (20th tallest building) the second oldest was built in 1974

Dams have been very beneficial in the fact that they save money by cutting energy costs. Hydroelectric energy is cleaner and costs less then natural resources do.
