More than 4,000 schools and 100,000 teachers poll with Poll Everywhere. Our customers include universities like MIT, Stanford and Harvard.

Companies like Microsoft, Google, TED, McDonalds, Starbucks, and over 50% of the Fortune 1000 use Poll Everywhere.

I think this short video easily provides a quick overview of human rights and would be an engaging way to begin a lesson/the topic. Although it's only around 10 minutes long, I feel as though it covers the basic beginnings of human rights and and the ideas behind them. Human rights is such an important subject that it needs to be taught somewhere along the lines in a Humanities classroom because we all have them. I also think this video will gain student interest as it's intriguing and the graphics are exciting. I would probably use this video in upper primary classes.

Racism. No Way! provides so many valuable resources to both teachers and students promoting anti-racism in schools. I particularly value the anti-racism activities as well as the e-challenges. I think that as a teacher of Humanities, having a good anti-racism resource is essential as you will encounter many issues on multiculturalism in all Australian classrooms. Teaching acceptance and tolerance of backgrounds, cultures and traditions is what Humanities is all about isn't it? We all learn about what each other have done in the past regardless of what race/gender/etc we were, so why should it change now? Giving students the right resources will encourage them to respect and be accepting of other cultures, and I think that these resources can be found on this website.

'Treasure Explorer' is a website created by the National Library of Australia and provides so many resources to students and teachers! I particularly like the "Teacher's Stuff" section where there are multiple 'treasures' to be found - treasures on this site are basically resources that the library calls 'official', while those posted by the public are labelled as 'shared' treasures. I think this is a great place to go for any documents from Australia's history including from the times of Captain Cook and colonial life. There are so many options for using this in a Humanities lesson that I don't even know where to begin. I think I'd love for the children to be able to contribute by finding their own treasure to upload to the website as a part of an investigation lesson on major historical Australian events. As this is a collaborative resource website I think that it's extremely valuable for the classroom (I'd use it on the SmartBoard). There are even surveys asking what you think on certain issues! (For example Lindy Chamberlain - "Should Lindy Chamberlain be financially compensated for the time that she spent in prison?") - These could be answered and justified as a class.
