Lucas Hileman's insight:

I really love this video. It shows how much cops know about Civil Rights. The man who got pulled over knew his rights very well. You never HAVE to answer a question the Police ask you. I know people personally who have done this and don't get a ticket or arrested. I'm very glad that people stick to their rights and don't let anyone remove them from them.

This video shows just how aware people are of their rights. I think that people should know their rights because of situations like this where it could cause conflict. I am glad that people stick up for their rights and don't back down even if the other person is very persuasive.

Key Supreme Court Cases for Civil Rights

Key Supreme Court Cases for Civil Rights | Citizens' Rights | Scoop.it
Lucas Hileman's insight:

It is great to see the different court cases that have effected Civil Rights. It is also nice knowing that they have been changing Civil Rights since the mid 1800's. 44 different cases have been brought up about Civil Rights since 1857. There are going to be many more to come as well because someone isn't going to be happy with part of it and going to have to try and change a law.

I think this is great in explaining the significance of civil rights, and what they mean to us as a country. The different cases of groups wanting civil rights and WINNING shows fortitude as a country. I think this is true in the fact that there are most likely many more cases to come up

Lucas Hileman's insight:

This shows about 6 different instances where there was conflict in citizens rights. There was obviously the conflict between blacks and whites, which is often remembered by MLK's I Had A Dream Speach. This is a very reliable article because it is from The History Channel website.

Civil rights panel members urge rejection in Hawaiian tribal status fight - Washington Times

Civil rights panel members urge rejection in Hawaiian tribal status fight - Washington Times | Citizens' Rights | Scoop.it
Civil rights panel members urge rejection in Hawaiian tribal status fight Washington Times The push for tribal recognition comes as the state's Office of Hawaiian Affairs attempts to preserve race-based benefits and privileges for Native Hawaiians,...
Lucas Hileman's insight:

There is a Hawaiian "Tribe" that people think will cause major precedents if they move into the U.S. I think they should just leave the tribe alone because if they were born into the tribe, they don't know any better. It's not like they are doing any harm, Civil Rights panel just doesn't want them in the U.S. I kind of find this discrimination. Just because they are in a tribe doesn't mean it's a bad thing, if they do bad stuff then we need to take action accordingly.

Very reliable source. The changes to rights overtime to really equal out everyone's rights are astonishing. I think the people of the nation and the government are doing a superb job of making themselves and everyone happy. Everyone is a human being and deserves rights.
Rayden Duncan's comment, September 27, 2013 6:58 PM
Quite the informative article. It really shows how people's idea of civil rights changed over time. I agree with this because people are people no matter their skin color or ethnic background and should have equal rights.
Michael Pitts's curator insight, October 2, 2013 11:54 AM

This is an article that just explains the changes the civil rights has gone through and has a lot of facts on the topic.
