more cost upfront ... BUT savings over time can be incredible ... not to mention not having to use fuels to heat ...

This paper reports the results of Partial Root Drying (PRD) trials with different initiation timing, duration and levels of water restriction under field conditions in an arid region with no rain, and thus without rainfall confounding effect. The aims of the work were: i) to assess water use efficiency (WUE) under contrasted PRD treatments with different water restriction initiation timing, ii) to determine whether the PRD treatment induced water stress tolerance as indicated by osmotic adjustment and “stay green” effects.
