In addition to the rapid growth of massive open online courses (MOOCs), last year saw many new educational models based on the MOOC structure. There were BOOCs (big open online courses), SPOCs (small private online courses), SMOCs (synchronous massive online courses), and DOCCs (distributed online collaborative courses).
