I was initially almost set on going to UW Bothell since it's close, a satelite of the UW, and the cheapest of the schools I got accepted into. The only problem was that it doesn't have as many degrees as I would like. The site was pretty helpful but it pretty much just proved that it's a small university lacking in most things.
The college search doesn't have to begin and end with the Ivies and the name brand schools. Martha O'Connell, the executive director of Colleges That Change Lives, shares some advice for trying to find schools that works for you.
What I found interesting from this article was the section that said "a name brand college doesn't guarantee success". To me this meant that the college isn't the most important choice. The most important decision to make is the decision to get good grades and study the material that you want to use in life so that you can excel at whatever you want to. Getting a random degree from the UW might not be as good as getting a degree that I actually want from Western Washington.
The bigger of the two college I'm interested in, Western started with a bad rep since it's farther away, more expensive, and larger. There website was actuall really helpful (and better than UW Bothell's) and I learned a lot about the school. Even though it's large it has a good student to faculty ratio and small classes which I think is necessary. I also find the number of degrees encourging because I have a lot to choose from and can pursue whatever I want.
