Sean's insight:

My Thoughts:

I was initially almost set on going to UW Bothell since it's close, a satelite of the UW, and the cheapest of the schools I got accepted into. The only problem was that it doesn't have as many degrees as I would like. The site was pretty helpful but it pretty much just proved that it's a small university lacking in most things.

The college search doesn't have to begin and end with the Ivies and the name brand schools. Martha O'Connell, the executive director of Colleges That Change Lives, shares some advice for trying to find schools that works for you.
Sean's insight:

My Thoughts:

What I found interesting from this article was the section that said "a name brand college doesn't guarantee success". To me this meant that the college isn't the most important choice. The most important decision to make is the decision to get good grades and study the material that you want to use in life so that you can excel at whatever you want to. Getting a random degree from the UW might not be as good as getting a degree that I actually want from Western Washington.

How to Choose a College that’s Right for You

This article is extremely valuable to me because it touches all the pieces of my search for college right now. So far, I have been struggling with choosing a college that fits me, and this article has helped me to remember all of the important information in order to pick the best school for me.

Although I know that the name-brand schools and majors are not what the deciding factor should be, it’s good to be reminded that I can be looking for other smaller schools that may even be better. This article also reminded me that there are ways to afford private and more expensive schools even when it seems impossible. Because the main schools I am looking at are private schools in Washington, this article made me feel better and more comfortable with these choices.

All of the advice this article gave me was very valuable, and with each step I take moving forward, I will remember and use it to help me be successful with my decision.

Sean's insight:

My Thoughts:

The bigger of the two college I'm interested in, Western started with a bad rep since it's farther away, more expensive, and larger. There website was actuall really helpful (and better than UW Bothell's) and I learned a lot about the school. Even though it's large it has a good student to faculty ratio and small classes which I think is necessary. I also find the number of degrees encourging because I have a lot to choose from and can pursue whatever I want.
