7 Wonderful iPad Apps to Learn about Human Body in 3D ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Chisholm iPads | Scoop.it

"Technology has radically revolutionized the human science and provided us with profound insights that were not knowable to us before. It has also cracked the dark secrets of some key scientific concepts that mystified the human mind since the dawn of time. The physiology of the body and body anatomy are some of these key areas that have benefited a great deal from the advancement of technology. Consequently, the teaching of these concepts have become way easier and more attainable. In this regard, developers now have designed so many apps that examine the human body in 3D."

Augmented Calendars - Engage Their Minds

Augmented Calendars - Engage Their Minds | Chisholm iPads | Scoop.it
I made a “Mystery Calendar” for October.  I found a list of historical people and events from October here, and chose 4 of them.  Then, I used iMovie to create short videos that gave clues about each one.  Because I have a Mac at home, I had a bit of trouble finding a good calendar template for the iWorks suite, but I finally landed on a good template for Numbers here.

How To: Enable Restrictions on iPad | Chisholm iPads | Scoop.it

"Another week, another “how to” iPad tutorial. While I don’t expect this one to get as much attention as my video explaining how I record my iPad’s screen complete with audio, the ability for teachers (or anyone using a shared iOS device) to enable restrictions is fairly important. If you have a managed device, here’s how to enable (or disable) restrictions on your iOS device."

Excellent Videos OnThe Use of Augmented Reality Apps by Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

Excellent Videos OnThe Use of Augmented Reality Apps by Students ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | Chisholm iPads | Scoop.it

"Below are some good videos I got a few days ago on examples of how some augmented reality apps are being used with kids to help them improve their learning. If the concept of augmented reality if all new to you then here is a brief definition of it: Augmented Reality is exactly what the name implies: an augmented version of realty created by mixing technology with the known world. It might be a distorted, augmented, or less augmented version of the actual world but in its basic form, augmented reality is a simulation or rather a way of superimposing digital contents into the real context."

The Department of Citizenship & Immigration in Australia created an augmented reality app for Harmony day which was AWESOME. I'm all for this near-holographic technology in classrooms! Best thing is - it's technology that gets students out of their chairs and keeps them engaged while they walk around exploring the 360 degree augmented "reality".

NASA also made a cool Mars Rover app.
