The lion share of the market goes to Baidu, which is having more than 60% of the market share; however Google and Yahoo is also there with hardly 20% and 10% of shares respectively. Chinese SEO is not that easy with its unique nature. The first thing to be considered is that all the websites in China are made in the local language as Chinese people are not able to follow English. Next, Baidu's ranking algorithms are not that much sophisticated as of Google and they focus more on the page titles, headlines, meta tabs, and the back links. The keyword density also counts, and it is more the quantity of articles counts more than that of the quality. As Baidu is more of a local search engine in China, it is more used to extracting the keyword from Chinese texts, so Chinese keyword stuffing is an important aspect as far as Chinese SEO is concerned.
Baidu also displays paid search results on top of the index search results. It means for the most competitive keywords on search, there may be already many paid search results ahead of normal results. So, there is every possibility that the natural first result may be very much on page two or even on three for the top-most keywords.
You need to think it twice to know whether the SEO for search engines like Baidu makes proper sense or not. However, we can expect that Baidu may be changing this display pattern in future; otherwise it will only be a array of paid ads and it will just get restricted to just keyword advertising instead of proper SEO.
