Seems like a loaded claim. Actually referring more to the language used by parents when reading WPB to their kids. Doesn't downplay importance/benefits of picture-vocab books. Needed a closer reading. This is good to know though for the classroom that the stories told using WPB use more complex language, ad thus can teach complex language usage.
