Rachelle Howard's insight:

I 100% agree and hope that Education, Health and Social Care can operationally work together and communicate effectively to make this a reality, by actions not just words. No one, least of all a child or young person, should be left to suffer in this isolated way without adequate support

A major national and international concern is that young people with mental illness fall between Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adult Mental Health services (AMHS). The CAMHS-AMHS divide is ...
Rachelle Howard's insight:

I completely agree; transistion is a very vulnerable time for young people.  Parents are not kept informed of the process and many families are left floundering and outside of the system. CAMHS records are not necessarily passed onto AMHS, causing the young person to 'start all over again' in secondary care, meaning delays to diagnosis which in the UK, means - no access to treatments!

Be prepared; because it is a very bumpy ride!  More resources are needed!  #youthmh #IAYMH2013 #letdown #abandoned #strategic #political

1 in 4 suffer mental health (MH) issues over the age of 16 years.  Much more MH and Carer Awareness Training needs to happen, especially with social care to meet these needs, especially when case loads include complex needs - Duel or Triple Diagnosis and/or MH plus Physical Health requirements plus social needs, currently they seem too focussed on independant living to take these issues into account!
