Tek Perez's insight:

Recognize the Signs of Depression and Anxiety during the Holiday Season

Mastocytosis In Children – Common Misdiagnosis | Allergy Shots Asthma Relief - Redondo Beach, Torrance, San Pedro, South Bay 310.792.9050 | Child Care and Health | Scoop.it
Mastocytosis is a rare condition causes by an excessive amount of mast cells in the skin. Because mast cells play a role in allergies and anaphylaxis, it is often missed or misdiagnosed. Dr. Ulrike Ziegner of Riviera Allergy Medical Center has extensive experience in treating all forms of allergies and autoimmune disorders.
Tek Perez's insight:

Because mast cells do play a role in allergic reactions, the symptoms of mastocytosis are often similar to the symptoms of an allergic reaction such as fatigue, itching, skin lesions, ear/nose/throat inflammation, headaches, and muscle pain. Mastocytosis is often misdiagnosed because it takes a trained eye and extensive background knowledge to differentiate mastocytosis symptoms from allergies or other causes.

Depression is a pervasive mental illness that can occur for many reasons. Read this article to learn more about coping with depression.
Tek Perez's insight:

The recent suicide of Robin Williams has catapulted discussions of depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses back to the forefront of people’s minds. Of course, it is preferable that depression can be discussed without the unfortunate death of a notable figure prompting it; still, his death has given us an opportunity to take another look at depression and provide education to those who are less familiar with its effects.
