Let's face it... before you introduce a product into the marketplace, you had better "protect it" the best you can with patents, trademarks, copyrights, and non-compete agreements with your suppliers and other people you deal with.

Well, it was bound to happen... and why not?  It seems to me that anything that is not illegal should be able to be crowdfunded... in the appropriate forum where children are not exposed to inappropriate materials.

Many people think that crowdfunding their invention is an easy way to raise money, but just the opposite is true. You cannot be successful merely by asking people to donate money. Rather, you must have the right product, build an enthusiastic audience for the product for weeks, set the right rewards at each donation level, produce an effective "pitch video", and write sales copy... all before your crowdfunding campaign even launches!

It's interesting that people are so "psychologically invested" in fully funded crowdfunding campaigns that even when their money is refunded due to the project failing for some other reason, donors can be very disappointed.  Likewise, only 25 percent of fully funded campaigns deliver products by their stated dates.

I already knew about crowdfunding and equity investing, but peer2peer lending was news to me.  The author claims that only a small percentage of small businesses utilize crowdfunding.  The vast majority utilize equity funding or loans such as peer2peer.
