Book Character Day Activities | Character Education | Scoop.it

Aligned with CCSS RL 3.3, RL 4.3, RL 5.3

Kids want to dress up in costumes at the end of October, but many families don’t celebrate Halloween and some schools have banned Halloween parties altogether. Book Character Day is an educational way to allow kids to participate in the fun of dressing, and the activities are aligned with Common Core Reading Standards in grades 3 through 5! Jem Muldoon's curator insight, February 23, 2013 2:38 PM

"Preparing children to be responsible, productive, caring, and engaged citizens is a timeless pursuit that continues to be the goal of education today. How best to do this in our modern school system, however, is a relatively recent and still evolving area of study and practice, and it's the main question the SEL movement seeks to answer."

What’s a character educator?

What’s a character educator? | Character Education | Scoop.it

One, that character matters no matter who you are or where you are. Two, that they might look at character education this way: If exercising builds strong muscles, then practicing the virtues of good behavior builds strong character. Three, one important way that our children learn character is from observing, imitating, and modeling what adults say and do.

This being the case, I remind them that they too are character educators.
