Megacities are on the rise! A Megacity is defined as a city (Metropolitan area) with over 10 million. As of 2013 there are 24 Megacities throughout the world. The largest is currently Tokyo (35 million). Seven out of the top ten are to be found in Asia.

Unfortunately this is an an example of a by-product of over-industrialisation and unsustainable urbanisation. Many megacities throughout the world exhibit the negative impact of 'urban exhausts'.
