"Ante un nuevo sol", un documental de Bernardo Caamal Itzá

"Ante un nuevo sol", video documental dirigido por Bernardo Caamal Itzá.

Fue presentado recientemente en varios foros organizados en Yucatán para conmemorar el cierre del ciclo del 13 B’aktún de nuestro calendario sagrado y que concluyó el 21 de diciembre de 2012.
En el vídeo, con una duración de 10 minutos, hablan los descendientes actuales de los Mayas que construyeron Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, Tulúm, entre otros sitios de relevancia histórica y ceremonial, donde comparten que el mundo no se acabará, sólo se transformará.
Dichos cambios resaltan más la esperanza del regreso a la tierra para cultivar el maíz; a su vez, plantea mirar de nuevo esa estrecha relación que tenemos con todos los elementos que están en nuestro alrededor, sin perder de vista esa mirada cíclica de la vida y del tiempo.
Como herederos de esa legendaria cultura, tenemos el compromiso por dar a conocer y compartir los conocimientos que hemos heredado de la tradición oral, para crear el optimismo necesario para encontrar nuestra identidad y tratar de ser más humanos en estos años en que impera el materialismo y se destruye el tejido comunitario, y que repercute todos los días en nuestros hogares.
Esa mirada metafórica y reflexiva, en lo que se refiere a la soga viviente (en el idioma maya, conocida como Kuxaan suum), se encuentran los conocimientos que permitirán analizar y diseñar el futuro en éstos años inciertos de economía global y cambio climático.

Lack of proper leadership at the community level is also another source of poverty. Good leaders should be able to help the community to manage the resources and create meaningful wealth. If we engage the community to plant trees then we must provide alternative energy and other meaningful economic activities to support live. Leaders must be able to form effective community teams - like saccos to initiate and take ownership of economic processes/activities, attract funding and apply proper implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of community projects
